Darwin strikes again…
Police suspect they were taking selfies on the central crash barrier on the A24 autobahn when a 73-year-old Audi driver from the nearby town of Lauenburg hit Steele, who is thought to have died instantly.
Words fail me, they really do.
In a statement, police in the nearby city of Lubeck said witnesses reported seeing the three men taking “cellphone pictures of themselves” and said they may have been drinking.
Well, there’s a surprise.
Then, of course as is the modern way, we get the inane Farcebook tribute.
On Facebook his cousin Abigail Steele wrote: “Absolutely devastated rest in peace Dean cuz love you always till I see you again. I am so proud to call you my cousin we love you and miss you so much Dean.”
One friend, Joseph Cheney, posted: “Absolutely lost for words. Can’t believe this. One of the boys one of my best mates has passed away. So many great nights out [and] memories of you absolutely gutted man.”
Oh, Gawd… I’m not sure that “passed away” is the relevant phrase to use here. Idiot does idiotic thing and pays the price of said idiocy would be more appropriate. It’s the driver I feel for here, not the twat taking selfies in the central reservation.
Oh Lord, not fecesbook…
I always recall one example of scum who having killed or maimed a copper or something and had later ‘passed away’ prompting messages on fecesbook from other louts with things like: ‘sleep wiv the angels, mate.’
You really couldn’t make this sort of thing up.
From the article….
“Police suspect they were taking selfies on the central crash barrier on the A24 autobahn when a 73-year-old Audi driver from the nearby town of Lauenburg hit Steele,…”
Now correct me if my driving skills are a little out of date, but are you meant to NOT drive on the central reservation?
The central crash barrier on a motorway is close to the carriageway. Likewise, people have been struck while on the hard shoulder for the same reason.
I don’t disagree totally btw…stupid is as stupid does. I just think the blame is not entirely to be laid at the feet of the deceased.
There was only one person responsible for him being there. The driver wouldn’t have expected pedestrians in the vicinity of the outside lane and Continental motorways tend to be narrower than ours, so escape opportunities will have been less.
What always makes me laugh with this faecesbook shite, is the comments they leave. I mean it’s not as if the deceased can read the effing eulogy can they? Utter mucking fuppetry.
