There is a huge difference between being anti-Islam and anti-Muslim. Anyone who believes in Western liberal values should be the former because Islam is an evil ideology, whereas, as with the followers of any other religion, Muslims should be free to practice their religion, but should not be free to demand that we respect and accommodate their ridiculous beliefs when they are at odds with our values.
It is an odd thing but when one of the Islamists does something like this it does cause less of a reaction because it is what we expect from them, they are Islamists, it’s what they do. When a westernized white guy does it, it is more shocking because we see ourselves as being more civilised than that. The lopsided reaction from the media shows that they haven’t thought about it very much.
