The Green MP, Caroline Lucas, has thrown down the gauntlet to 10 high-profile female politicians over blocking a no-deal Brexit, proposing a cabinet of national unity including Labour’s Emily Thornberry, the Liberal Democrat leader, Jo Swinson, and the former Conservative cabinet minister Justine Greening to seek legislation for a fresh referendum.
In an extraordinary proposal that will be viewed with scepticism by rival parties, Lucas offered to broker a deal with female MPs from all the main political parties in Westminster, as well as the SNP’s leader, Nicola Sturgeon.
They really are desperate. Nicola Sturgeon isn’t an MP, so fuck off with that one. Also, we leave on the 31st October come what may. That is what the EU has said. No more extensions. So fuck off again.
And why only women? Because she is a sexist cow, that’s why. So will she be asking Priti Patel? Nah, wrong type of woman.
What a nasty, cynical anti-democratic harridan this creature is.
If parliament passed a motion of no confidence in Boris Johnson’s government, the plan would be for them to form a temporary cabinet, existing only to propose a Brexit referendum, likely to be remain versus no deal.
No. What will happen is already laid out in the Fixed Term Parliament (2011) Act, you anti-democratic witch. The PM will have fourteen days to try to secure a confidence vote. If he loses that, he will seek a dissolution of parliament from the Queen and we have an election. There is no need for your unelected, undemocratic cabinet of unity.
So fuck off.
Lucas, the former Green party leader who is her party’s only MP, wrote: “It is hard to remember a moment in my lifetime when Britain faced a greater crisis. A coup led by a small group of rightwing libertarians is all but complete, as the Vote Leave team has been reassembled and taken control of 10 Downing Street.
The only coups being planned here comes from you and McDonnell. We have an elected government – who are not far right and they certainly are not libertarian. If you think that, you have no idea what libertarianism is. The pursuit of liberty is the precise opposite of what the majority of our MPs stand for, including you.
So fuck off.
“They are set upon implementing the most extreme no-deal version of Brexit – and, most terrifyingly, we are running out of time to stop them.”
The EU has been offered an opportunity to discuss another negotiation. They have declined. No deal is the default option. That’s it.
So fuck off.
“Why women? Because I believe women have shown they can bring a different perspective to crises, are able to reach out to those they disagree with and cooperate to find solutions,” she wrote.
Er, no, it’s because you are a sexist cow.
So fuck off.
“However, while I agree that women can do things in a different way, if you’re trying to stop no-deal Brexit then the key thing is to bring people together, not to divide them on the basis of their gender.”
Says Anna Soubry. My word, I agree with Soubry. Hang the bunting out.
That referendum would give voters the option to choose between remain and “the latest government plan”.
So, yes an anti-democratic stitch up. I voted to leave. I expect to leave. That’s it.
No small irony in that every single one of them with the exception of Sturgeon has contributed to the collective Westminster political fuck up that has paralysed the country’s decision to leave the EU
And also no surprise to see that many of the names; Lucas, Soubry, Cooper, Wollaston have also been amongst the most high profile democracy deniers.
The only reason Sturgeon and her bunch of demented porridge wogs haven’t done more damage is because Theresa May didn’t want to share the limelight and used the devolution argument to explicitly exclude her.
Female unity my arse.
I’d take issue with the idea she contributed nothing to the fiasco. The SNP was the only party to oppose the referendum bill. As John says May (to her credit) explicitly refused to countenance the suggestion that the 3 devolved government should be able to veto a ‘No’ vote nationally…
Leaving the EU was a democratic decision taken by the British Electorate, end of story. If Lucas cannot accept that decision and tries by undemocratic means to overturn that decision, she must bear the consequences. She may be lucky and the consequences may not be too painful.
In general Women do do things a different way. There are a few exceptions but they are few and far between.
They calm everything down by stalling any decisions until we all get bored and then they implement a soft watered down useless solution.
If they are in charge it is their way or you are a sexist bully.
Question: Does anyone know anything that women have done that is a benefit for our species besides the biological obvious?
Development of the theory of radioactivity, techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes, and the discovery of two elements, polonium and radium. That do?
This is too Monty Python to resist.
Invented Kevlar, a powerful para-aramid synthetic fiber, developed by Stephanie Kwolek at DuPont in 1965.
The development of modern nursing and hygiene in hospitals. Oh, this could be fun…
Development of mechanisation in manufacturing. Margaret Knight
The Cafetiere. Melitta Bentz. Well, for some people that’s very important.
De-icing aeroplane wings and non-reflective glass used in camera lenses, car windscreens, computer screens and submarine preiscopes. Katharine Blodgett.
Stem cell isolation. Ann Tsukamoto.
You may begin to wonder why you asked that question 😉
Unfortunately it’s not the Marie Curies we’re dealing with here.
In this instance, no.
Has this person ever actually met or (god forbid) worked with women? Because if you think they are bad in a mixed gender environment they are absolutely horrid in an all female environment.
Catfights over handbags and tears in the toilets. When this producer launched a women-only TV company she thought she’d kissed goodbye to conflict…
The only thing I can suggest is because almost all female MPs are selected on the basis of their gender and are basically not up to the job they may exhibit a degree of solidarity which I agree you would not ordinarily find in a mixed gender workplace… additionally when they are a minority they do tend to bond together…
I voted leave too. My fireworks and Champagne are all ready for 31st October and i fully expect this time to be able to enjoy them.
When we are out i hope all these anti democratic remainder bitches shoot themselves !
Feminist sophistry at its best. When it suits them, gender is fluid and socially constructed. However, in this case, the female MPs are all 100% standard women, as standard as the Standard Metre, who have unique and indispensable talents that no man will ever possess.
OMG! She forgot the DIVERSITY!!!!! Where is the female BAME representation! Bigot! Racist!
She’s meant to be the representative of the Green Party, not the White Power Party!
😐
I know. That made me chuckle.
Looking at Guido’s just now, it appears that she has just “apologised” for proposing all white (but not for being all female).
So this grim faced harridan who has made it perfectly clear that she will only acknowledge the result that suits her now has to “diversify” her brains trust.
This is going to run and run.
Perhaps somebody should point out that would mean one, at the absolute most two non white members. Can’t imagine this will be pointed out but it’s something we all know.
Yes, I saw that. As you say, it’s going to run and run.
The very fact Richard Murphy considers her ‘a hero of the age’ tells us all you need to know about her. Truly appalling
That’s a pretty low bar.
As I understand it when an MP wins a seat they promise to represent all their constituents. Because let’s face it they got in as the majority voted for them but not all their constituents did. This is the basic rule of democracy and winners and losers understand this.
You may have voted labour but a Tory won the seat , he might not agree with you , nor you agree with his politics, but if you have an issue to take to Parliament he will represent you.
Now I wish to ask all these MPs who are claiming we need another referendum, the question is simple. Did all your constituents vote remain? If the answer is no, the question needs to be asked, how are you representing the constituents who voted leave, or do they not count? Because it is quite possible that they voted for your party in the last general election. The referendum was not party based, it was a simple quest for a straight forward answer.
We gave the wrong answer.
I would be worried about calling an election as the EU didn’t go well for any party except the newly formed Brexit one. Nothing to say they can’t give a general election a go!
If you have a seat you need to hold on to it and get on with the job in hand or you might be jobless.
