The Fuzz Doing Their Job

And a good thing, too.

Police have taken pre-emptive action against environmental protesters who are planning to cause disruption in Westminster.

Dozens of officers from the Metropolitan police’s territorial support group raided a building in Kennington, south London, where Extinction Rebellion activists were storing equipment to use in a demonstration next week.

Well, about time, too. These people are nasty extremists who are not merely protesting peacefully.

Protesters had said they planned to block 12 sites in Westminster from Monday morning until their political demands were met.

That’s not peaceful protest, that’s blackmail. So I’m more than happy to see the police stepping in. There is a conflict here – the right to protest peacefully, which should be an absolute right under freedom of speech and the right of people to go about their lawful business without being held to ransom by a bunch of nutters doing their damnedest to hold the city to ransom “until their demands are met”. Who do they think they are, issuing demands? How dare they?

So, yes, prosecute the bastards to the full extent of the law and keep doing it until they get the message – peaceful protest is not the same thing as vandalism and blackmail.

  1. Not before time. Maybe they should have a crackdown on groups like Antifa too, who seem to live a comparatively charmed life considering all the harm they do.

  2. Instead of protesting they should lead by example and live without fossil fuels. That way, by next spring they would all be dead.

  3. Extinction Rebellion – load of rich middle class knobs lecturing the rest of us how to live our lives. They need putting down hard. Junk science anyway.
