Why is Anyone Listening?

Why should anyone take any notice of a dickhead who has been wrong about everything?

Professor Neil Ferguson has warned that loved ones ‘will catch Covid-19 and die’ if families are allowed to mix on Christmas Day, as doctors predict that mass cancellations for routine operations are ‘inevitable’ this winter.

The scientist, whose modelling led to the original lockdown in March, said schools may have to be closed to older pupils if restrictions on households mixing fail to stem the rise of coronavirus infections.

Any normal person would still be hiding away in shame if they were caught with their pants down in the way that this charlatan has. However, not wishing to engage in logical fallacies… This man has been wrong on every issue on which he has pontificated. His mathematical models were so flawed no one in their right minds would take any notice of him again, yet here he is, seeking relevance with yet more attempts to drive us into ever more restrictions.

People will not be taking any notice of this man. They will go and visit family over Christmas and neither he nor his fellow travellers will stop them. What these people seem to have difficulty grasping is that we understand the risks and prefer to take those risks so that we can live for the moment.

A period of silence from Ferguson would be much appreciated.

  1. Why the MSM continue to give this shit goblin air time remains a mystery to me. Actually it’s not a mystery because he continues to trot out “the party” line”. I would actually welcome hearing some counterpoint argument in the MSM.

  2. Have you heard of a guy called Paul R. Ehrlich? He was made a fellow of the Royal Society a few years ago. He will surely go down as being the most consistently wrong scientist in history. He has been making doom laden prognostications since the 1960s and has yet to get a single one right. Ferguson is a minnow in comparison. People, mainly greens admittedly, still listen to Ehrlich, so it should come as no surprise that Ferguson still has followers.

  3. I despise Ferguson more than words can say, and at the mere mention of his name I feel compelled to leave the room. Since clearly no amount of being wrong is reason enough for him to be banished from public scientific life, I live in hope that one day he will tangle with Nassim Nicholas Taleb, who will then hand him his arse on a plate.

  4. The fact that your first line “Why should anyone take any notice of a dickhead who has been wrong about everything?” is not the reaction of every newspaper and TV station, tells us why the ‘mainstream media’ is dead.

Everyone with a solitary functioning neuron thinks that, and yet the media still believes the public are stupid enough to listen to this discredited moron.

  5. Aah, the man behind the old ‘do nothing scenario’ which would result in 500k deaths. At the time of the analysis a rather lot had already been done (home-working, hand washing promoted, shielding of the vulnerable initiated etc), so why was a model which reversed all of that in its assumptions taken seriously? I don’t know, but ministers must take blame up to a point.

  6. Ferguson was still being described as the governments leading Coronovirus adviser on BBC R2 news on Saturday. Let’s hope he stays that way until the worm of public opinion finally turns.
