Charlie Mullins. The bloke is a tit who has a mouth like the Mersey tunnel.
Pimlico Plumbers boss Charlie Mullins today confirmed all new starters at his £50million business would have to take a Covid jab to get a job.
This is insidious. It is an attempt at coercion which flies in the face of the Nuremberg code. I would never, ever sign a contract that made such an imposition. That said, I’d never want to work for such a complete jerk as this anyway. I do have some standards after all.
And he said he doubted many would object to the new terms, adding ‘people would crawl across the snow naked to get a vaccine at the moment’.
Well I wouldn’t.
His firm is exploring how it might modify existing staff contracts although he insisted no one would be forced to receive a vaccine or be fired over the issue.
Only because you can’t, you vile little man.
I thought he’d tracked back on this, apparently not.
Bell end, nothing else to say.
There are some people who are so obnoxious, I would never work for them no matter what. I’ve walked away from jobs before because they were run by arseholes like Mullins.
Nor would I employ his services.
You can bet that his employees are not a happy bunch and that they will be very conscious of getting the job done quickly.
Quite so. I wouldn’t want to give him my money any more than I would sell him my labour. Nasty little control freak.
I wonder what the legal situation is, when an employer effectively forces his staff to have an injection of a drug where the clinical trials to determine if it is safe have not yet been completed? Who would you sue, if you had an adverse reaction?
We can’t sue the manufacturer as the government has given them indemnity – a big red flag if ever there was one.
I would suggest it leaves the employer vulnerable if it can be proven that there was coercion.
I suppose it might depend on how his plumbers are “employed”. If they work on a ‘self-employed’ basis then he could just stop giving them jobs if they refuse vaccination and then the decision would be theirs and he would be protected from ‘coercion’ and potential action. He seems the sort of chap who might go for false self-employment.
Unless they are able to choose hours of work, clients and so on, they are employed according to HMRC rules.
Tim has written on this several times recently. I’m no expert but he seems well informed – it’s standard practice for vaccine manufacturers to be given immunity, with the tax payer picking up the compensation bill for the small number of people who are adversely affected. That’s after all the proper (and lengthy) clinical trials of course. This one could be a different story…
Indeed, the proper and lengthy trials being the missing bit.
Charlie Mullins: still relaxing beside pool in 5* Dubai hotel, how many months?
Charlie Mullins looks and speaks like a London gangster and I’d wager intimidation & violence were route to his success
He’s looking to use H&S Regs as excuse, Employment Tribunals won’t wear that
I was very disappointed to read Richard Littlejohn agreeing with this insanity in today’s Mail. He’s been one of a few (largely) sensible media commenters, but I don’t think I’ll be bothering to read his column in future.
“But maybe refusniks should have to wear a bell round their necks and sport a sandwich board declaring themselves ‘Unclean’”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9276259/RICHARD-LITTLEJOHN-No-jab-no-job-no-brainer.html
I saw that and was surprised. I thought better of him. He just repeated the usual tropes and false analogies.
Yes, me too; Littlejohn defection very disappointing
Did comments support him?
It would appear that, if I understand this correctly, an employer can enforce vaccination for a new employee (since new contract) for a mostly non life threatening acute illness, but can’t by contractual obligation require new employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle (ie don’t be obese) for a chronic condition that can seriously impact availability and competence (particularly for physical work) for a given job.
I’m sure there’s some logic there.
It’s not about the health of the employee, Charlie knows his chaps are unlikely to get ill from this. It’s a simple marketing tool to reassure the brain washed customers – call Pimlico and you won’t get Covid from the plumber.
Listening to his vapid wittering, his customers aren’t the only ones brainwashed.
To add to @LR
The vaccine manufacturers have been very clear that vaccine is not tested or proven to prevent spread. It only, hopefully, protects most vaccinated from developing severe symptoms
Thus, no vaccine only affects unvaccinated
Mullins, Littlejohn etc need to look at facts and stop vacuous untrue PR messaging
Unfortunately, they seem to be in the majority. Look at the comments under the articles you linked to the other day. Critical thinking is a dying art.
Excellent article over at LS
Well worth reading in full. imo those being vaccinated have not given “Informed Consent”
Two stand outs
