There’s a gnome shortage.
Supply chain issues and the popularity of garden centres during lockdown are causing a shortage of garden gnomes.
The ornaments are in short supply with raw materials hard to come by and the recent blockage of the Suez Canal contributing to the national shortage.
Ian Byrne, assistant manager of Highfield Garden World in Whitminster, said there had been a “massive upswing” in the sales of garden gnomes.
“We haven’t seen a gnome in six months now unfortunately,” he said.
Words fail me.
How can you be so unfeeling about gnomelessness?
Oh, I’m hard hearted.
You’d have to have a heart of pottery not to laugh though 🙂
Next up, gnome gnapping – sorry I meant gnome kidnapping – and criminals either holding them to ransom or selling them for vast sums of cash.
Mark my words, this is the next step up from pet kidnapping. Watch out for the Daily Mail publishing a series of articles from shocked and traumatised gnomists telling everyone how distraught they are at the loss of the little fellows. Expect a solemn Police spokesman on TV reassuring everyone that they are taking this crime wave REALLY, REALLY seriously and asking the perpetrators to “do the right thing” and return the gnomes anonymously. Won’t someone think of the children?
It is another step that Britain is taking into utter anarchy and tyranny.
Gnomophobe!!
There was a trend in 1990s of nicking gnomes, then sending house photo postcards of it ‘on holiday’

A friend of mine, cough, sent one from Bulgaria
Yes, I’d forgotten about that.
Well, I hope they’re not all found in someone’s back garden having a BBQ without masks on.
Very good, we need a pic of police raiding it
