Like a turd that just won’t flush, this arsehole is still peddling his claptrap and people still give him airtime to do so.
It is going to be a “difficult summer” with Covid cases in the UK possibly reaching 200,000 a day, the scientist whose modelling led to the first nationwide restrictions has suggested.
Prof Neil Ferguson said there could be as many as 2,000 hospital admissions per day, which would cause “major disruption” to the NHS.
This man has been wrong about everything. He was wrong last year. Indeed he is so wrong that he makes Mystic Meg look insightful. You might as well ask her, she will likely as not give you more accurate figures than this charlatan.
When someone is so utterly incompetent, it leaves you wondering why anyone would ever go back to him. Despite breaking the rules he would have imposed upon the rest of us, despite being completely wrong about CJD, foot and mouth, SARS, Swine flu and now covid, despite all this, he is still given airtime, he is still taken seriously. There are buffoons who still believe that his wildly inaccurate modelling constitutes science rather than idiotic guesswork.
Much like Basil Fawlty going back to O’Reilly and expecting a competent job this time around. These people are insane – or they think we are.
I’m wondering after the figures we’ve had for the last 16 months who’s left to catch this mild cold.
Handy hint –
Two yards of Andrex, dangled above the water, will entrap a floater, or a sinker, and flush it away.
We still refer to any builders doing renovations or repairs as “orelly men”, e.g. if I’m at home, MrsBud will send a text “have the orelly men turned up?”
There’s a great code review of Prof. Ferguson’s model, written by an ex Google programmer. Shall we say that the review is not kind. The supposed errors are legion, and the model produces different answers when using single core processors vs. Multi core amongst many other seemingly odd outputs.
As always, Toby Young has the story..
