A Glimmer of Light

I’m not over hopeful, but there is a hint of optimism.

Boris Johnson is facing a cabinet revolt over vaccine passports, having been accused of denying people their fundamental freedoms.

The Prime Minister announced this month that certificates proving double jabs will be needed to enter indoor venues such as nightclubs from September.

Government advisers have raised concerns that such environments are conducive to ‘super spreading’ and could see a huge spike of cases later in the year.

But it sparked a huge backlash, with more than 50 Tory MPs prepared to vote against the ‘misguided plan‘.

Let’s hope so. Labour has also said (fingers crossed) that it will oppose the plan. If all those who are saying that they will oppose it keep to their word, then that’s a good thing. The trouble is, they are all politicians and politicians cannot be trusted.

  1. Just received an e-mail from the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester requiring (if asked) vaccine proof, or negative test for attendance at future shows/concerts. As this is a unilateral change to the T&Cs from when I bought my tickets, I presume a refund will be available if I do not have proof. I have written asking if I will be denied entry without such proof. The Weasel words being,”if asked”. I await a reply. Interestingly, I had booked to see Neil Oliver and Nick Knowles in 2022. This has now been cancelled, I presume by Neil (or Nick too?). I have a couple of hundred pounds worth of pending tickets for other shows, which are likely to be refunded. Not a massive amount, but if more folk get refunds, then perhaps venue owners may be forced to not discriminate, if only by financial pressure.

  2. If Bridgewater Hall demands proof of a ‘vaccination’ against the CCP virus, I trust that they will also be demanding proof of vaccination against hepatitis, HIV, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and other communicable diseases from every other customer? To do otherwise would shirley show an unacceptable level of prejudice and discrimination? If a pregnant woman attends, contracts a chicken pox virus from an infected customer, causing her child to be born with various defects, would Bridgewater Hall accept liability for their negligence? I can already guess the answer.

  3. We’ve already got them here…

You need your ‘Safe Pass’ to get into just about every shop, bar, pub, gym, concert – in fact any enclosed space that holds more than 10 people (including staff)…
