Under the Bonnet

I don’t know if anyone else noticed this past few days, but this site has been a bit temperamental. Step up Grandad, who took a rummage around in the engine and has fixed a few issues. As he said, if it hasn’t exploded, then it’s a success. So, it hasn’t yet…

  1. Can’t say I’ve noticed anything new in the last few days, but I have been experiencing slow page loads on this site for a while now. May be worth checking that the server hasn’t been infected with a bitcoin miner as these will eat up all the resources and make everything else crawl along. The recent log4j vulnerability is one of many ways they get into unpatched web facing systems.

  2. A few time outs / server not found. Assumed auto reboot. Worked again few minutes later. Well done for noticing and acting

Lets cut the outrage every time a Tory MP says something that in reality is just banal and commonsensical. Outraged media outlets need to get a grip and cut the confected outrage’

And it’s never been easier to learn to cook. Products have cooking instructions on them and usually a recipe too. Youtube full of ‘how to cook’ videos, Councils and charities run free ‘how to cook’ classes. BBC, C4 etc all air ‘Eat Well for less’ type cookery programmes. Imo people are too damned lazy and addicted to dependancy culture. A baked potato with some cheese is about 15p max and 5-7 mins in microwave

  4. It should be mentioned that the existence of food banks is not down to evil Tories being evil but a failure of socialism. Socialism works like a ratchet, you only ever get more of it, it very rarely gets rolled back. So now that we have half of our income going in taxes, huge government spending and a huge and well funded welfare system, people are having to rely upon charity to eat. Jack Munroe is about as woke and lefty as they come but has a good book about how to cook on a tight budget.

Yep, they existed pre 2010, but Blair and Brown prohibited public sector from telling anyone about these charities that helped poor.

IDS reverversed this and allowed DWP, SW etc to help people and of course castigated by msm for exposing their existence. Maybe Tories should have been evil like Labour and denied their existence, Oh, and continued the 0845, 0870 phone numbers for DWP, HMRC etc
