Some Self Awareness?

David Attenborough’s new series is mired in controversy.

The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of David Sir Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press, the Guardian has been told.

The decision has angered the programme-makers and some insiders at the BBC, who fear the corporation has bowed to pressure from lobbying groups with “dinosaurian ways”.

I haven’t watched anything by Attenborough for years. Mrs L was still alive and we were watching one of his programmes only to be treated to a condescending lecture on climate change. That was it – exacerbated by the fakery that was subsequently exposed. I cannot stand the man’s sanctimony and unlike many I do not see him as some sort of hero. Just the sound of his pompous tones sets my teeth on edge.

So, it would seem that I am not alone and even the BBC has recognised that this won’t go down well. Of course, right wing is being used as a pejorative, but that’s to be expected. I’m not particularly right wing – more slightly right of centre, but wobbling a bit on that line because I’m actually a liberal in the traditional sense – but to these cretins I’m ‘far-right.’

One source at the broadcaster, who asked not to be named, said “lobbying groups that are desperately hanging on to their dinosaurian ways” such as the farming and game industry would “kick off” if the show had too political a message.

It’s the BBC, it shouldn’t have any political message. That’s why that tedious twat Lineker is in hot water.

Of course, not paying the buggers is a step in the right direction.

  1. From Wikipedia:
“Classical liberalism is a political tradition and a branch of liberalism that advocates free market and laissez-faire economics; civil liberties under the rule of law with especial emphasis on individual autonomy, limited government, economic freedom, political freedom and freedom of speech.”

I like the sound of that. What a shame that there is no substantial current political party in the UK that holds those views – and that I could vote for.

  2. She told the Guardian: “I think the facts speak for themselves. You know, we’ve worked really closely with the RSPB in particular who are able to factcheck all of our scripts and provide us with detailed scientific data and information about the loss of wildlife in this country. And it is undeniable, we are incredibly nature-depleted. And I don’t think that that is political, I think it’s just facts.”

It is a long time since the RSPB was a reputable organisation, I cancelled my membership over 20 years ago because of its unscientific stance on supposed AGW. The RSPB is fully supportive of onshore and offshore bird mincers.

    • Yes indeed. The RSPB now supports the killing of birds rather than their protection. The name of the organisation has become a hideous misrepresentation.

  3. I have been reading bits about Climate Change and related matters. All have the great and the good pontificating about how we need to change our wicked ways before the Apocalypse arrives. None of the above are prepared to set a good example by giving up their comfortable lifestyles however. My real query though, is what qualifications do any of them have that make them experts in anything ,let alone a complex matter like the climate. Are any of them Real Scientists?

    • Climate scientists aren’t real scientists, they abandoned the scientific method years ago. Whenever climate change is mentioned I always try to post a link to this website:

I have nothing but admiration for Paul Homewood. He has been absolutely tireless in working to debunk the hysterical predictions of the climate change alarmists.

  4. Don’t forget that David Attenborough is one of those behind “Optimum Population Trust” aka “Too Many Plebs”.

He wants you and your family dead, but for some reason he and his cohort in the elect are exempt.

    You first David.

  5. It always sounds like his dentures don’t fit properly. I find it irritating so I too haven’t watched any programmes by him for years.

  6. No matter what stupid laws we enact nor however our government makes us all poor, that big ball of light and heat in the daytime sky will take no notice. It just carries on with it’s own thing. Next on the agenda will be another ice age. We cannot as yet move planets. We might avert it by pumping CO2 into the atmosphere………………..oh wait!
