Hunt having a Portillo moment.
Jeremy Hunt today dismissed swirling rumours that he is set to quit as an MP before the election to avoid suffering a ‘Michael Portillo moment’.
The Chancellor insisted he will be the candidate for Godalming & Ash when the country goes to the polls.
The difference being that with hindsight, I have looked kindly on Portillo. He might have made a half decent PM. Hunt on the other hand isn’t someone I would miss. Indeed, the humiliation would be a joy to see. Unlike Portillo, he really is an unpleasant piece of work. At least Portillo makes interesting rail programmes.

Hopefully, he’ll be removed as Chancellor in the next few weeks as he seems too clueless to realise that the extortionate rates of taxation are making a mockery of what it is to be a Conservative.
Then again, that’s what happens when politicians can’t get elected to the top job, so stage a coup d’etat. Tend not to be very good at listening, since they didn’t like being told to get fucked during the leadership election.
