Pigs in Blankets

Okay, to be fair, it didn’t really float my boat as a joke. But offensive, really…

Furious animal lovers have blasted Sainsbury’s over their playful Christmas cards – claiming it Is ‘OFFENSIVE to vegans’ to picture chilly pigs ‘excited to be getting blankets’.

This is why vegans are generally disliked. They have no humour. As I say, this one doesn’t really work, but nice try. That said, if it offends a vegan, then job done.

One shopper at the Charlton store in London took umbrage when they spotted one of the retail giant’s cards featuring a festive scene.

Umbrage was taken. Oh dear, get a life. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Move along, nothing to see here.

After sharing their disgust at the ‘cruel and unkind’ card on social media, users went on to brand it ‘bleak’ and ‘sad’, and added that it was ‘offensive’ to veganvegetarian and animal-loving consumers.

Offence is taken, not given and surely, it’s the pigs that should be offended. Just as well they can’t read.

But others saw the funny side and told those upset by it to ‘get over it’ declaring it was just typical ‘dark humour’.

Quite so. But you can never please a vegan activist on the warpath. Tedious, sanctimonious twats.

  1. Sainsbury’s were forced to apologise, forced? Really? No they were not forced, they had the option to tell these people to get stuffed, they could even have offered them a pack of sage and onion by way of apology.

  2. I have a vegetarian coming to join us for Christmas lunch. I normally prepare a vegetable bake for her, or a red onion and pepper quiche or suchlike. She has the grace not to whine about everybody else’s dietary choices, and we make no comment about hers. We enjoy our meals together, drink wine and have a bit of a chuckle.

Unlike these Vegan activists who must be a real bundle of fun to be around. I recall one individual, who you could not please. Every time he joined the rest of us for meals out he always sneered at the menu, banging on about how few vegetarian choices there were. Eventually no one wanted him around. Met him ten years later and everyone else from our then social circle had moved on but him. He was still a miserable arse living alone. I rather suspect these ‘activists’ are similarly unpleasant and intolerant people who deserve their own lousy company.

  3. I saw a meme about Schrodigers Douche bag – defined as someone who says offensive things and decides whether they are joking or not based on peoples reactions.

Sainsbury’s reaction caused it NOT be be meant as a joke. Arkell and Pressdam is appropriate here.

    • Sainsburys just stock the cards, so it will be the designer, not the retailer that this applies to. And some people find it funny. I’ve a pretty dark humour, but it didn’t tickle my funny bone. We are all different.
