1. I hate to be the one to have to break it to you but I’m afraid many people are indeed stupid.

2. The mail online is read throughout the world. Some Johnny Foreigners might actually need to be told which one is which.

3. Dad’s Army must be one of the few shows that was TV first then adapted for radio.
   It is still regularly available on the BBC wireless site and if comedy is searched for in order of “popularity” it is more often than not on the first pages.
   “Stupid boy” was often used by my parents, my grandfather was fond of “don’t panic”, but I am afraid the one that I am most likely to deploy now is “doomed”
