I’m Not One of Them

We do not owe an apology.

Six in 10 people in Britain believe Caribbean nations and descendants of enslaved people should receive a formal apology from the government, the royal family or firms that profited from exploitation, a survey has found.

The poll, released on the UN International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, will be delivered to ministers in parliament on Monday by the Repair Campaign, a group calling for a formal response to the historical horrors in the Caribbean.

The poll of 2,016 people representative of the UK population found that support for a formal apology was particularly strong among younger age groups and Black people.

In other words, people who are historically ignorant. I tell you what, you apologise for the cost and loss of life this country endured killing off the trade. You profusely thank the men of the West Africa Squadron who gave their lives, to stamp out this evil trade. We owe you nothing. No apology and not one solitary penny piece. No apology and no reparations, because that is what the grifters really want. An apology opens the gateway to screwing us for money. No one in this country has owned slaves and the people demanding that we beg and grovel over it, were never held as slaves, so…

Fuck off. Fuck off and die. When you’ve done that, go fuck off again and keep doing it until we can’t hear your constant bleating and whining about something that came to an end a couple of hundred years before any of us was born.

Did I mention you fucking off? Well, if I didn’t, fuck off. We don’t owe you anything.

  1. Since 1965 in the US throwing welfare billions at poc or blacks or african americans or whatever the so-called polite politically-correct term has helped them how? Similar policies in the rest of the west have failed in the same fashion.

More of other peoples money, the eternal socialist solution, will obviously work this time.

    Stop now.

    • No apology necessary from this country, as you point out our contribution to the abolition of slavery at home and internationally means we have already paid in full almost 2 centuries ago.
That said, a small number of families do owe their wealth to ancestors who were involved in the slave trade (as owners and/or traders). Within that very small group l guess it should be down to the individuals conscience.

  2. Reparations: A scam to take money from people who are not guilty and give it to other people who are not suffering.

Here’s a thought. An International Statute of Limitations… after 70 years grievances are automatically rendered null and void. That would mean that slavery no longer merited any ‘reparations’. Some Palestinians would lose their ‘right of return’. Greek Cypriots who were displaced by the Turkish invasion have only a few more months to yearn for restitution. Many of the Irish troubles and their consequences would soon slip beyond legal relevance.

I’d expect people to still hold onto their historical grievances (we are all only human) but if the legal avenues to address those issue were time expired then perhaps the grievances would gradually fade away.

  3. Leaving aside the fact that in this case we have nothing to apologise for, apologising for something your dead ancestors did to people who are themselves long dead is, in any case, a meaningless empty gesture that oozes an unpleasant fake sentimentality. I rather think it was Blair who made it popular.

  4. I think this poll is bullshit frankly. Whoever commissioned the poll probably ensured leading questions were asked in order to get the answers they wanted.

And, no, there should be no apologies, and no reparations. Why should people today apologise for and pay for something that happened several generations ago?

  5. Ah, to fabricate a shouty headline the Grauniad is doing party tricks with the facts again: no surprises there, then. Two thousand out of sixty million? That’s less valid than the customer satisfaction results in “rejuvenating” face cream adverts!

  6. I saw a person on tv talking about this. Crux of the matter is ex slaves are poor and the ones who had slaves are still rich, so the poor want some of the wealth. In that case during the industrial revolution, loads of poor people, living and being treated, not a lot better than slaves. Yes they had their freedom, they were free to work long hours, starve, live in dreadful poverty. Now a lot of the wealthy landowners still have their money and the ancestors of the poor are still poor. So should we be able to claim money if we can prove out ancestors, built the railroads, worked in the mines, cotton Mills etc?????
Sounds a bit like communism to me. We want what you have but we don’t want to work for it.

    • I’m descended from a fairly long line of farm labourers and I’m not poor. I’m not rich either but I’m fairly comfortably off. I didn’t ask for reparations from rich landowners, I worked for a living.

  7. It’s not the stone grifters in these shiteholes, they are merely doing what they do. They know no better. They simply can’t help themselves.

It’s the vicious haters in this country who are the problem. Those who’s hatred for white, legacy Britain totally overrides any logical thought or self interest they might have (assuming they have any of course).

They would whore themselves to anything and anybody to spite the white British people who refuse to bend the knee to their belief in their own divine right to rule.

    They will not stop, never.

  8. Our school system doesn’t teach the real history because they don’t want to teach the real history. True, a lot of teachers don’t know the real history, but the people who write the syllabus surely do. Why our Establishment despises us so much is unclear to me. But it is clear that they do despise us.

  9. Stage 1: You must admit it was wrong.
Stage 2: Not good enough, you must apologise.
Stage 3: Not good enough, you must pay reparations.
Stage 4: Not good enough, you must be punished.
Stage 5: Not good enough, you must suffer more. You must lose your job, forfeit your house and your bank accounts, your family must be forced into poverty.

    and so on

  10. When the brown ancestors of those currently living in the Americas were slaves working in the tobacco plantations and cotton fields, my pale ancestors were working for subsistence wages in the Lancashire cotton mills. Who is going to apologise to me and pay me reparation?

  11. I feel really sorry for children of mixed race. Instead of allowing society to become all embracing of culture, race and have harmony. We are getting sections that are fueling hatred and racism. Children are being asked to be embarrassed about their European culture and family yet their African roots are wonderful. There are going to be some really mixed up children who will end up needing therapy.
Soon the relatives of those killed in the two World Wars will want compensation. Maybe we should go to the Barbarry coast pirates because they took slaves from the coasts of Devon and Cornwall. Maybe put a claim into France for the Normans invading us, or the Romans. These people need to be told that in everyone’s life s**t happens, get over it!

  12. Just tell them that reparations will consist of a one way ticket to whichever crappy bit of Africa they would currently be living in had slavery not happened.

  13. I love your comment as I was about to say exactly that. You bloody ungrateful wretches. We freed you all from slavery at a loss of 15, 000 RN sailors. So fuck off with this whining victimhood. You deserve nothing more than your continued freedom.

  14. What about a apology from the descendants of the African Chieftains and Kings who sold their fellow Africans to the slave traders?
