That Went Well

Four days to live, eh?

Lady Victoria Hervey has insisted that Virginia Giuffre‘s credibility has been ‘destroyed’ after she was released from hospital following her dramatic claim that she had only ‘four days’ to live.

The aristocrat who once dated Prince Andrew said she been vindicated after last week accusing Jeffrey Epstein victim Ms Giuffre of faking claims that a crash with a school bus had left her fighting for life.

I think we are up to day nine now, and she is still with us. While I dislike Andrew intensely as he has always been a boor, I have always doubted Giuffre’s story. Had he not been royalty, he could have told her to sue or be damned. As it was, he had no choice but to buy her off. She will have known that was a likely outcome.

There are no winners here, but I am leaning ever more towards Andrew being the victim of extortion here. His relationship with Epstein doesn’t mean that he was involved in the paedophilia; rather, it shows that he is a poor judge of character. Not everyone who went will have been party to the darker stuff, as the inner circle will have been very careful about who they let in. Also, Giuffre was not a minor when the alleged events took place.

Still, it’s all conjecture. I know as much as you do.

  1. I think Andrew did have a choice and he could have and should have refused to pay her off.

    • The process is the punishment. When you go to court you get asked lots of questions totally unrelated to the case.

It isn’t the first time people have been paid off to avoid the months of media attention and the family embarrassment.

      • I get that. The system is shitty. However, in a situation where I was being fitted up, I’d fight with everything I had. I just understand why he didn’t.

  2. The inner circle will have been very careful about who they let in, but a member of the royal family is very unlikey to be leak anything, so might be a good bet.
Just saying, I don’t know any more than you do

  3. I bet someone like Prince Andrew gets lots of women wanting to have sex with him and so is not that careful about who he sleeps with – not very nice but not illegal.
I strongly suspect that many of his critics would have slept with her.

  4. He settled because it was the time of Her Majesty’s jubilee. Rather then detract from the celebrations it was decided to pay her off.
