Blowtorch temperatures, even.
Britain will have its second heatwave of the year from tomorrow with parts of the country put under an amber heat health alert as temperatures soar to 34C.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued the alert this morning to cover five regions of England – the East Midlands, South East, South West, East and London .
A yellow health alert has also been issued for the Yorkshire and Humber and West Midlands regions. Both alerts begin at 12pm tomorrow and end at 6pm next Tuesday.
The Government agency has warned that significant impacts are likely across health and social care services, including an increase in demand, during the alert period.
It’s summer. It tends to get warm in summer. Thirty-four degrees is pleasantly warm. And see the dark orange maps to make it extra scary. These charlatans never stop. They can fuck off now. I’m long since done with their scare stories.
In Spanish parts they cope with such temperatures as a matter of course. It helps that they have consistent ‘summers’. Businesses close for a 3 hour siesta and then remain open into the early evening.
It’s not rocket science.
Blowtorch temperatures?
now they’re just being silly
butane torches are 1500°C, propane about 2500°C and oxyacetylene torches up to 3100°C.
(obviously approximations with variations depending on equipment).
if the outside temperature is that sort of level, we have Real problems with a capital Re.
Even 1500°C is more than enough to kill everyone.
3100°C and all the cars and buildings would melt.
Blowtorch temperatures… they really do come up with some shite don’t they?
It seems this year’s blowtorch is cooler than previous blowtorches. Perhaps we are entering an ice age?

Where will it be 34C? Next to an active runway I assume…
I was in Venice in August 1964 when the temperature reached 94 Fahrenheit in the shade. The locals retired indoors and then resumed their activities in the evening when the temperature dropped. It was standard practice for them.
It is 29 here today, it was 39 when I was in Nicosia on Tuesday…
Meh, drink more beer.
My goodness, it might hit the seasonal average – 19C – here in Glasgow tomorrow. That’ll certainly be a change, right enough. It’s only managed that six or seven times so far this month.
I went for a nice walk down the disused railway line late afternoon. I met lots of cyclists, dog walkers, people just out for a walk. Everyone nods, says hello and comments on the lovely weather. A prolonged period of decent weather is pretty rare in these islands and sane people know that we should enjoy it while we can. The “OMG we’re all gonna die” crowd grow ever more ridiculous.
Recently visited my daughter in Australia. Whilst there, one day the temp gauge measured 47. I’d emigrate there in an instant given the chance.
