The End is Nigh?

Is it all ending in tears?

Rachel Reeves was seen in tears during PMQs today as Keir Starmer was battered over his welfare humbling.

The Chancellor was sitting next to Sir Keir as he insisted the smoking ruin of his benefits reforms would still make things better.

In an extraordinary moment, tears appeared to roll down Ms Reeves’ cheek as Kemi Badenoch demanded a guarantee she would stay in No11 – something the premier did not give. She was seen being comforted by her sister Ellie – also a Labour minister – as she left the chamber.

Who knows? All I will say is this: If this is the end, the only surprise is that it took so long.

  1. The woman is the epitome of modern managerialism. Full of bravado well above her actual ability, exaggerated back story, tin ear to reality. £5.00 on her being gone by the end of the month.

    • By the end of the month? You are after easy money. By the end of the week is a better estimate.

  2. If I was Rachel Reeves (which thank the Lord I’m not sir) I would get my resignation in right away claiming that my good efforts had been undermined by other Ministers and I had received no backing from Starmer.

Mostly bollocks of course but at least my name goes on the ‘possibles’ list for jobs under the next PM.

Better to go now before he is pushed.

  3. so, what brilliant minds do we have waiting in the wings if Reeves and Starmer step down? Are we to suppose there will be an improvement?

  4. I don’t like to see anyone in tears especially when they should be in chains in the Tower…

    Alright I’ll get my coat.

  5. With one thing and another, I’m getting the impression Labour are being brought out of their unicorns and rainbows fantasy and back into some sort of contact with reality.

  6. What is with Labour and nepotism? Harperson and Dromey, the Eagles twins, Reeves and her sister, Hillary ######## Benn…there’s probably more I’ve missed, but they don’t want farmers to hand the land the generations? Start with Eavis then

  7. Labour have had eighteen deputy leaders in their history. Only two have succeeded to the leadership. What Rayner thinks is a golden ticket is really a poison chalice.
