Railways

I was travelling back to Bristol from Croydon this week. Somewhere east of Swindon the carriage started filling with the smell of diesel fumes. As people started to get up and move further down the carriage or move to another one, it quickly became apparent that the whole train was affected.

Once in Swindon station we were de-trained and waited for about an hour while the fire brigade checked the train. We were eventually given the all clear after the ruptured fuel pipe was sealed and the power car isolated.

The cause? A chicken on the line. You couldn’t make it up…..honest.
