They’re Not Even Pretending Anymore

For a long time, I’ve been aware that the BBC is the socialists’ mouthpiece in the UK. Every question posed by the newsroom anchor that is presented as a leading question, every answer cut short, every strawman or false dichotomy gives it away. But now they are not even bothering to pretend that they are impartial.

The BBC has been criticised, however, for inviting Ms Smith to broadcast her comments without any interruptions or questions and for allowing the five minute piece to turn into a “party political broadcast”.

As Ed West points out,  it is not the government that is closing the library in question, it is Brent Council –  a council that pays its chief executive a fat !80,000 salary. Of course, if you are in the public sector, you ain’t a fat cat.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the issue at hand –  this was blatant propaganda and has no place being broadcast by a supposedly impartial broadcaster, not without a suitable reply giving the alternative viewpoint. This is a broadcaster that we pay for under threat of violence.

And should we have any doubts about their impartiality, West asks a pertinent question:

After all, can anyone remember the BBC allowing anyone to have a ten-minute, prime-time denunciation of government policy from 1997-2010?

I can’t say that I recall any…

  1. They have to let the BBC go to compete as an independent broadcaster in the market.
If not then surely they are fools ,or Frankfurt too.
    CP in the BBC.
    Stinks.

  2. Longrider, don’t pay the licence fee. The worst that will happen to you is that you will receive threatening letters every month – or so I have been told – if you get my meaning.

    Heh 👿

  4. Yup, don’t pay like me. It’s the only way to bring Pravda to its knees. Everything else will simply be ignored.

One implied right of access denied notice and a plethora of faux threatening letters and I’m licence free for over a year.

So easy… so much on the net to show you how easy it is.

  5. We already have that with Sky News. Of Course, they can be as biased as they wish – we aren’t forced to pay for it. There are other broadcasters, too.

The other alternative is to strictly enforce the national broadcaster ethos. Any individual who allows their personal preferences to show through in the course of their interviews should be disciplined and if necessary sacked, depending on the gravity of the offence. I’d say allowing what was little more than a Labour Party propaganda piece without an adequate response – on the same programme with the same amount of airtime should be a sacking offence.

  6. Actually, if you really want bias at the BBC DON’T try politics.
Where they really anre not as bad as a lot of people (like you) think they are ….
Wait until a RELIGIOUS person gets interviewed.
They are allowed to get away with the most amazing lying bullshit, that no politician would be given one second for ….

I too, pay no licence fee, btw.
So my comment above refers to RADIO programmes.
