Thought Crime is Here to Stay

Aidan Burley has been sacked.

A Conservative MP has been sacked as a parliamentary private secretary over “offensive and foolish” behaviour.

So what did he do? oh, yes, he attended a stag party where another person was dressed in a replica SS uniform.

Cannock Chase MP Aidan Burley was pictured in the Mail on Sunday last week with a man dressed as a Nazi SS officer at a stag party in France.

Soooo…. Attending an event where someone else is dressed in “offensive” fancy dress is itself now “offensive and foolish”. Truly, we are reaching the end times –  the fifth horseman is at large; Derangement. Now you don’t even need to actually do anything offensive* yourself –  you just need to be next to someone who is. It’s contagious apparently. And abject apologies don’t cut the mustard –  only ritual slaying will do.

*offensive can be whatever the righteous take a dislike to. So pretty much anything, really –  including dressing up in silly costumes.

  1. Grief. Sacked for being at the same party as someone doing something that other people might find offensive if they put their minds to it.

New game – turn up at political events dressed as a Nazi and see how many politicians you can get sacked.

Probably stating the obvious, but I’d wager someone wanted rid of him and this is just an excuse.

    Like passive smoking.
