I’d like to see just one change to the voting system, which might actually make the whole process worthwhile. Put a “None of the above” box on every voting slip.
You wouldn’t even have to do much with it to potentially cause some serious embarrassment to the political class. No sanctions against candidates would be needed. Just require them to publish the results and see what the press does with it.
Right now, the opinions of those who don’t regard *any* of the candidates available to them to be fit to hold office aren’t deemed worth recording. I think they should be.
