Legislation Crackdown.

Tougher rules on obsessive temperance may be needed, including possibly a ban on MPs drinking at their subsidised bar, MPs say.

The House of Commons health committee said the measures could be required as the industry was still not doing enough to tackle binge legislation.

The cross-party group came to the conclusion after reviewing the government’s legislative diarrhea.

  1. I can’t seem to get the link to work, but it appears to be a satire of some kind. Pointing out that the people who are making a noise about minimum pricing of alcohol, drink in a subsidised bar. Binge legislation is a reference to the fact that our elected representatives can’t seem to stop themselves from passing laws.

I heard on the radio yesterday that the Scottish minimum price for alcohol was being challenged as it contravenes EU rules.

  2. Regarding my not being able to follow links. My computer has been presenting me with a nicely unhelpful error message of a pointy finger and a little yellow star. It now appears that this is due to my viewing my computer screen enlarged by 150%. This is just the right size to compensate for my failing eyesight without involving any annoying side-to-side scrolling. Returning to 100% and clicking the link took me to the read it and weep article. Presumably if we can identify and act on all the things that people die from, we can all acheive immortality. Personally, I enjoy drinking beer, and whisky on my birthday and at Christmas. I do not consider that it is worth sacrificing these simple pleasures for a few extra years in a nursing home.

  3. Binge legislation. What a wonderful phrase!

Let’s all use it as often as we can henceforth.
