Money For Nothing

Every so often my mother in law asks us if the mailshot she received was kosher. And, no, we always tell her, they are not, they are scams.

I do find it disconcerting that intelligent people are taken in by these scams. Offers of thousands of pounds for nothing should ring alarm bells –  particularly in an erstwhile policeman. The golden rule is now as it has always been, if it looks too good to be true then it likely as not, it is too good to be true.

When confronted at his Southampton waterside home, David Gebbett declined to answer any questions but claimed: “If we didn’t do it someone else would.”

Oh, well, that’s alright, then…

  1. I saw that piece and frankly I was dismayed that someone so completely stupid had apparently previously been a Police Officer. The only consolation is that he is no longer an officer.

Not only was he stupid enough to be caught by such an obvious scam continually, but even more incredibly he chose to publicise it by appearing in a TV report.

  2. Oh, I don’t know – they are stupid & arrogant enough to taser blind men in the back & get away with it, aren’t they?

Well enough of them have installed solar panels on their roofs…

  4. Thi is what the small claims court is for. A couple of well publicised actions against these parasites and crooks would sort them ut. It is true that whenever one falls, another two rise tot ake their place, but that is the fault of the legal system in this country. If you promise something, you deliver. If you don’t deliver, it’s fraud. Having a Criminal Record also tends to concentrate the mind somewhat!
