The government has shelved plans to introduce a minimum price for a unit of alcohol in England and Wales.

Minister Jeremy Browne said the policy would remain “under consideration” but there were fears the change would hit responsible drinkers.

Of course, not to mention that it is illegal under EU law, the same EU that you lot are so determined to keep us in. Want to be in the club, then you have to abide by the rules and minimum pricing is against the rules. You’d need a heart of stone…

  1. Part of me almost thinks it would have been good if they’d tried to bring it in and then had it struck down by the courts. Still, Salmond says he’s still going for it, so may need to fetch popcorn for that.

  2. Scotland were also going to introduce this policy and at the very last minute backed out for the exact same reason and that was over a year ago.
Apparently it is against trading standards as it does not give EU countries fair trade in alcohol!

  3. I do hope the psychopathic weasel (Sliemond) DOES try it … given all his “We want to be like Iceland” & “We will use the Euro” & all the other EU fantasies he rambles on about.
    Nasty little crook

  4. He wants to be like Iceland?

Iceland, of course, isn’t in the EU and has absolutely no intention of joining. It recently elected an avowedly anti-EU government.
