Oh, Well…

That’s me told

French gourmets have traditionally shunned hot, spicy food – so they may be a little piqued by a study indicating that curry-loving men have higher testosterone.

Scientists at the highly-respected University of Grenoble have published a report suggesting that regular consumption of chili peppers may raise levels of the hormone, which is believed to make men more adventurous, enterprising and sexually active.

While I might enjoy an occasional chilli con carne, in general, spices leave me cold. They smother the taste of the food and I would rather not have the roof of my mouth burning. So, I’m not an alpha male. Well, there’s a surprise. I never was, nor ever wanted to be.

Result all round, then…

  1. I too enjoy a chilli con carne, and in my younger days – 30-35 years ago – it was a form of willy-waving to regularly attack a vindaloo.

I still enjoy a curry from time to time now, but a jalfrezi is the usual limit. My general preference is for traditional English food, and the less mucked about with, the better.
