The news coming out of Saudi and Iran leaves me looking from man to pig and back again, being unable to tell which is worse. The Iranians are comparing the Saudis to ISIS and they have a point. After all, ISIS executes infidels and, er so does Saudi. The Saudis will execute anyone who dares to comment adversely on the regime, the latest being a Shia cleric. Being a Shia is heresy, so, they are in for it. Much the same as ISIS. ISIS treats women as chattel, so do the Saudis. ISIS imposes a literal interpretation of Islam as its religious, political and legal system, So does Saudi. Both regimes are violent, barbarian and intolerant of any dissent. The only difference being that we sell arms to the Saudis and our politicians suck up to them. We do give ISIS bombs, mind… And we don’t charge.
As I look at what is happening, I find myself wondering just how we got to a situation where the Iranians come out looking like the good guys. We’ll be looking wistfully at North Korea before the year is out at this rate.
Partly because, even with their equally-bad record of internal executions, by comparison with the house of Saud, the Persian are the slightly-less-bad guys, possibly.
Meantime wanker Erdogan sounds off as to how that Hitler bloke wasn’t so bad ….
