The Jungle in Calais is clearly not a safe place for young boys…

Teenage boys are being raped in the Calais Jungle, aid workers have claimed, amid concerns over the lack of child protection measures in place in the refugee camp – and the risks of abuse facing thousands of displaced children across the continent.

Medical volunteers helping those camped outside the French town told The Independent they have treated seven boys aged between 14 and 16 in the past six months. who claimed to have been raped. They all had injuries consistent with these claims.

That’s a fairly high incidence in a relatively small population. There’s much talk of human traffickers and asylum seekers, but one important point is omitted. There is one culture where this kind of behaviour is all okay, where men are so infantile that they cannot control themselves. And we are supposed to be welcoming these people to our shores? Really?

Asylum for genuine refugees is a basic humanitarian instinct that we should observe if we have any humanity. However, these people are not asylum seekers. They had plenty of opportunity to seek asylum long before they got to Calais. What we have here is an invasion. An invasion by people who come from a culture that is brutal and primitive – where rape of young men is fine if you suffer from a sexual emergency.

Here, in the civilised world, we find such behaviour deeply repugnant. Keeping out the cultural enrichers therefore makes eminent sense.
