Ain’t that a delicious irony?
A Leave campaigner who was worried Remain would win has admitted he set up the hugely popular petition to re-run the EU referendum – which has garnered more than three million signatures.
William Oliver Healey, an English Democrat activist, set up the petition in May. It asks for the EU referendum to be re-run if the remain or leave vote is less than 60%, based a turnout of less than 75%.
So all the spoiled little snowflakes who can’t handle the outcome of a fair vote are jumping onto a petition that was set up by someone from the other side.
You’d need a heart of stone…
The petition’s under investigation by parliamentary authorities and 77k signatures have been removed because they weren’t legitimately allowed to sign! And…..
“The request for another referendum on the parliament’s official petitions website should have been signed only by British citizens and UK residents.
However, the petition’s data showed signatories from countries around the world, including Iceland, the Cayman Islands and Tunisia, and in some cases there are more signatures than total population.
Despite Vatican City, a tiny city state, having a total population of just 800, over 39,000 residents of Vatican City appeared to have signed the petition.”
There are just some things that shouldn’t be left to the internet.
Any politicos taking this petulant referendum seriously should be facing immediate recall or sectioning. I agree with LR though, about petards and hoisting…
The flood of suspect signatures from around the world is being blamed on 4Chan:

So essentially this creates a form of Möbius referenda because neither side will get over that much of the vote. Delicious irony. We could make it an annual festival.
Only if I can get help towards the cost of all the popcorn!
I set up a counter petition. Interestingly it’s yet to be ‘vetted and approved’ and I seriously wonder if it will ever see the light of day.
Democracy in action?
