So What?

Private providers in NHS.

Jeremy Corbyn urged her to rule out any deal that would give US healthcare giants a toehold in the NHS – after similar concerns over an aborted EU-US agreement.

Sigh… The French have had a mixed healthcare system for decades. It works. There is no reason – apart from ideology – that means the state should be the provider as well as the funder of healthcare. Indeed, given the general level of incompetence found in state provision of anything, private providers seems a good thing. I repeat, there is no reason whatsoever why private provision cannot be sold to the NHS.

And the SNP raised fears that such a deal will open the door to British supermarkets being stocked with meat produced in unhygienic ways currently outlawed across the EU.

I see that project fear is alive and well.
