Objectionable BBC

Be careful what you say to Auntie.

The BBC is threatening to report users to their bosses if they leave ‘offensive’ comments on one of the corporation’s websites, it has been revealed.

Its privacy policy has sparked a furious backlash online with the broadcaster branded ‘Orwellian’ and accused of ‘blackmail’.

The draconian document warns that if the corporation deems a comment to be ‘offensive, inappropriate or objectionable’ then a user could have their ‘personal information’ used against them.

And how is any of this defined? It isn’t. So presumably saying rude things about Islam will get you into hot water. These people really are nasty scumbags.

  1. This one, as the saying goes, is going to end up badly. Probably in court, with someone’s lawyer sueing the tits off the BBC because they were made redundant.

  2. Hasn’t there been a ‘speech crime’ law for some time now? Is it simply that no-one’s bothered to enforce it up til now?

  3. “…‘offensive, inappropriate or objectionable’…”

    Hmm,

Offensive: one of stupidist UK PC laws ever – if anyone blah blah hate crime see:

Inappropriate or objectionable: abject lunacy and impossibly vague

“LR, I dislike Hondas, too bland. Kawasakis are better”
“Pcar, that is objectionable as I prefer Hondas…”

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

  4. So the BBC is anti freedom of speech and that speech can be sweary of course too. People take offence. it is not given as it is subjected. What I find funny others might feel is offensive. Fortunately I work for myself so yah boo sux trying to get me fired.
