Hyperbole Much?

I don’t have any time for Farcebook, but a threat to democracy? Oh do give over…

Facebook should do more to tackle the spread of “cancerous” fake news, and help fund original journalism, newsreader Jon Snow has said.

The journalist, who has presented Channel 4 News since 1989, gave the MacTaggart Lecture at the annual Edinburgh TV festival.

He said Facebook’s inaction was a “threat to democracy”.

Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg says the company is “experimenting” with ways to support the news industry.

Says someone from the MSM; one of the purveyors of fake news on a wholesale basis. I wouldn’t trust something Jon Snow said unless I had independent verifiable proof. The man’s a twat.

In a 50-minute speech, Mr Snow said Facebook had helped Channel 4 News find a wider audience for its reports, but left publishers at the mercy of the social network.

“Facebook’s principles are seldom explained in detail and can change overnight at Mr Zuckerberg’s whim,” said Mr Snow.

He also criticised the company’s reputation for allowing false stories to spread unchallenged.

That’s not their role. It is up to the reader to ascertain for themselves – we can check other sources. Not a problem. What we have here is legacy media worried that their role is being taken by the new kid on the block and that consumers no longer look in awe at idiots such as Snow for their news. Indeed, online you will come across experts in the field who will debunk the nonsense peddled by Snow and his disreputable band of liars, charlatans, mountebanks and brigands.

If I had to choose here, I’d take Farcebook over Channel 4 News and that scoundrel Jon Snow every time – and that’s sure saying something, given my very low opinion of Zuckerberg’s zombie. I guess it’s just a case of who squeezes low enough to fit between the dog shit and the pavement. Snow wins this one outright.

  1. I have a golden rule vi-a-vis the MSM, and that is I don’t believe a single word of it until and unless I find sources to verify it – and usually I can’t.

Moreover, these so called journalist almost NEVER do the necessary research and verification for themselves. More often than not, they just regurgitate any line they’ve fed.

  2. Well at least we can always rely on the BBC to tell the truth.

Basically, if I was so shit at doing my job that just about anyone could do it better than me and not only that, were prepared to do it for nothing just because they enjoy doing it, I think that I might be a bit worried.

Actually scratch that, I would either get my effing act together or find another job.
