She is Right

The Duchess of Cambridge has eschewed the Me Too bollocks.

The Duchess of Cambridge risked a backlash last night as she broke ranks with actresses and chose not to wear black at the Bafta awards.

Pregnant Kate, 36, wore a dark forest green gown by British designer Jenny Packham following weeks of speculation over whether she would wear black in a public show of support for Hollywood’s stance against sexual harassment.

Almost every actress on the red carpet wore black, including A-listers Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie, making the Duchess’ choice all the more striking.

She’s a royal. I would expect nothing less as the article points out.

Tradition dictates that the Royal Family avoids anything that could be construed as a political statement, but there had been speculation Kate could wear a patterned black gown to demonstrate she backed the Time’s Up movement, but also respected royal protocol.

What she did here was ensure that there could be no mistaking that she was subtly supporting the campaign and therefore dabbling in politics. She puts her father in law to shame.

Some women turned to Twitter to voice disappointment that Kate had not worn black. Nikki Long wrote: ‘Disappointed in Kate Middleton Duchess of Cambridge not wearing black to the Baftas. It’s not a political thing. It’s a woman thing!’

No, it’s very much a political thing.

Journalist Rachel McGrath tweeted: ‘I know the Royals aren’t supposed to get involved with ‘protests’ or anything … but would it really have been THAT bad for Kate Middleton to wear black??? I feel properly let down (didn’t know I cared this much).’

Yes, it would, because the royals don’t do politics. And you need to get over yourself.

And a Meghan and Harry fanpage wrote: ‘How does Kate not feel any shame sitting right at the front with a green dress while every other woman is wearing black.

Honestly, she should have stayed her a** at home if she wasn’t even going to show her support for women.

All of the above merely confirm that Twitter is for morons.

  1. Better than not bovinely following the crowd of self absorbed virtue signallers Kate showed a lot of grace and elegance at the BAFTAs unlike most of these actresses, who feign a quick bit of outrage acting for the cameras before disappearing straight off to various BAFTA after parties to get wankered.

  2. The BAFTAs, the OSCARS, and all the other award ceremonies, are all about putting bums on seats, and making as much money as possible. Any publicity is good publicity, and virtue signaling is some of the best. Left to their own, most of these celebrities could not string an intelligent thought together. As they prove, every time they try and think for themselves. The MSM lovies love them, because the prattling of the celebrities make the media lovies actually sound intelligent.

    • I like Kate, despite not being a royalist. She has natural poise and she carries out her role with dignity as she has here. She is head and shoulders above the luvvies and their tedious political campaigns. That William is a fortunate man indeed.

  3. “Kate’s outfit was a subtle nod to the movement, as in some lights her gown was as dark as black”-The Daily Heil

reachin’ much? How about “her black eyelashes giving a wink towards”?

  4. The Duchess of Cambridge is not ‘Kate’ or ‘Kate Middleton’.

I just hope that Dench woman, (who is NOT Queen Victoria), turned up in a black backless number so as to reveal her ‘Harvey’ credentials!
