Today, mostly, I am doing my accounts. Not helped by this fellow who thinks he can help (actually, he doesn’t. He just knows that irritating the hell out of me gets what he wants. Works every time). On the upside, it’s looking like HMRC will owe me money…

Nice looking cat, shame about the old model Food Slave attachment.
I feel like a bleedin’ slave, too. Since Mrs L died, I’m getting the full works as opposed to half…

I just got £600+ from Gibraltar government for my 2012/13 return (i.e. they’re running about 4/5 years behind). I didn’t need to apply for it; they just put it straight into my account.
The tax year there runs from June, and in my case I worked from January one year to Feb the next, earning a rebate for each year.
Also, they have two personal tax systems there and run a calculation to determine under which you would have been better off, and refund the difference if you picked the wrong one. No argument. No petty, spiteful penny pinching.
The French did the same when I overpaid there one year.
