Muskrat?

Elon Musk really is an unpleasant little man.

But instead of backing down on his accusations, he went on to suggest that the story is true because Mr Unsworth has not sued him. The diver is thought to have avoided legal action in the hope that the furore over the tweets would die down.

“You don’t think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me?” Mr Musk wrote in the first of a series of tweets. “He was offered free legal services.”

Reasonable people do not rush to sue – despite what has been said about them. That Unsworth hasn’t rushed to legal action is not prima facie evidence that the claims were true. And restating them without evidence is only going to make any case for defamation stronger.

He went on to suggest that people who were asking for proof of the allegations against Mr Unsworth had just not investigated the truth enough.

And he has? From what I could see, he threw a temper tantrum because Unsworth wasn’t very polite about his mini submarine. He has no evidence of paedophilia.

This is a train wreck in slow motion.

  1. Musk really doesn’t know when to stop digging. Still, everytime he bangs on about this, a load more people cancel their order for one of his overpriced toy cars.

  2. Musk is protected from any real accountability for his remarks by his sheer wealth though, and he knows it. Should he be sued and found guilty of slander it will only be a bit of money – Musk is reportedly worth about $80bn so what will a fine mean to him?

The world needs proper remedies against the super rich carrying on because they are above the law. Perhaps if the court were able to fine him at least a $billion of his pot if convicted, or better still stick his arrogant ass in a jail cell for 90 days, these people would rediscover thier dignity.

    • Although it’s a civil rather that criminal offence, so it will be damages not a fine, your point about the effect stands. Punitive damages would be the answer.
