Weasel Words

From a weasel no less.

Leader of the UK Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn attempted to include an addendum to the definition of antisemitism it adopted on Tuesday night to allow party members to describe Israel as racist due to the “circumstances around its foundation.”

Corbyn submitted a 500 word addendum to Labour’s National Executive Committee detailing his request to allow Labour members the ability to call Israel racist, but the document was rejected by the NEC, the ITV news outlet reported.

Well, at least the NEC has a modicum of sense even if the party leader doesn’t. Israel is not inherently racist and to suggest that it is, is at best, absurd, at worst, downright antisemitic. And this addendum was clearly designed to allow the antisemitism to continue under a different guise. But, then, this is the hard left we are dealing with. A group of hard-of-thinking brand of political activists who still think that calling someone racist has an effect.

The conflict in the Middle East has been going on for millennia and there have been atrocities on both sides of that conflict and it shows no sign of resolution anytime soon. However, we are where we are. The Palestinians have had ample opportunity to reach a negotiated settlement, yet continue to refuse to do so. The latest example being to elect HAMAS, a terrorist organisation that uses human shields to protect its weapons, whose idea of a negotiated settlement is the eradication of Israel and the Jews – and therein lies the root of the problem. Why would anyone want to negotiate with them?

They had a choice. They blew it.

Corbyn, with his attempts to sneak this one under the radar merely exposes himself as an antisemite. But I think we knew this already.

  1. Corbyn objects to the state of Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people. He finds that racist.
Let’s dig a little deeper shall we?
How does he feel about the existence of the United Kingdom, as the national homeland of the British people? Does he also find that hideously racist?
If he does not, if he accepts the British national claim on the UK, then he assigns to one racial group the right to the national homeland of their race. To another, he denies it. In both cases, the racial group has an established history on their territory going back thousands of years. And his differentiation, of who has a right to national territorial integrity or not, can only be predicated on one race being more worthy, than another. Oh dear.
If, however, he refutes the British national claim on UK territory as a racist stance, isn’t about time he was placed on the spot about that? It’s just as inherently racist isn’t it? Plus a denial of the rights of indigenous peoples to their own ancestral land? Except if they are maybe black, brown, or a bit exotic? Maybe before his next attempt to persuade sixty million Britons to vote for him, he should be challenged to air his views on their right of tenure of their own country.

  2. So Corbyn wants to describe Israel as racist due to the “circumstances around its foundation.”
To dig a littlke deeper, as Monty put it, if anyone is racist due to the circumstances of its foundation, it would be the Palestinians, and Corbyn too, for his blind support of them.
When Judea, occupied mainly by Jews, was a Roman province, the governor, Hadrian (he of the wall), wanted to punish the Jews for their continued resistance to the Roman occupation and rule. When he asked who were the traditional enemies of the Jewish people, he was told it was the Phillistines. He then decreed that the province would be enamed Phillistinia, which over time became Palestine, occpied mainly by Jewish hating arab tribes.
The formation of the state of Israel after WW2 was merely an international aim to allow Jews to return to their traditional, and spiritual, homeland.
If the Palestinians had accepted this, then their standard of living would no doubt be as high as that of the Israelis. However, its leaders, encouraged by other Jewish hating arab states, have kept its people in politically motivated permanent refugee camps.
To see who is racist, ask how many Palestinians are obtaining medical care in Israeli hopsitals and how many Israelis are receiving medical care in Palestinian hospitals?
If the Palestinians lay down their weapons, there would be no more war. If the Israelis lay down their weapons, there would be no more Israel.
Corbyn, and his tunnel-visioned followers, really are weasels.
