Philip Hammond has admitted telling ministers to prepare to make cuts if the UK crashes out of the EU with no agreement, after “Operation Yellowhammer” was revealed.
Some of the comments on that article are classics: “Fake news. What would Hammond know? He’s only the Chancellor of the Exchequer. We’ve had enough of these experts. Give me a poorly informed person every time.”
I don’t know about the frothy mouthed but those Brexiteurs whose opinions I value (because on the whole they have spent decades thinking things through) have never said anything other than ‘it is gonna hurt and probably hurt bad BUT no pain no gain’-expressed in more scholarly terms of course.
Car crash-just like any other mass motorway pile up there WILL be causalities, people will get seriously injured and ‘claret is imminent’. Only questions are ‘Will it be worth it in the end?’ and ‘How long will this economic nuclear winter last?’
Rather depends on where they choose to cut. But, likely as not, they will cut in the wrong places. The fake charities will be safe…
Oh I can tell you exactly where they are going to cut: Your Income (especially as a self employed person ie RICH person).
