Heavyweights such as Louis Theroux and Gayle King still allow accused men to share their narratives with vast audiences. This is wrong, dangerous – and gets us nowhere in a broken world

FFS! “Accused” is not the same thing as guilty. So now all that is needed for someone to become unpersoned is for an accusation. Never mind the rule of law. Never mind the presumption of innocence. Indeed, never mind an acquittal, even.

Khan was acquitted of sexual assault. However, Theroux gave – as you imagine is the point – Khan enough rope; his account a thoroughly uncomfortable display of martyrdom and hubris. The film makes you angry. It makes you think about how, in campus investigations, a lower standard of evidence is required than in criminal court. It makes you question verdicts such as these. But are these compelling enough reasons to make such a programme now?

Fucking Hell! Seriously, these people want to completely dismantle the protections we have in order to satisfy their perverted intersectional obsession. He was fucking acquitted. That’s it. End of. And of course a campus investigation will not operate to the same standards as a court of law – because it isn’t a court of law, you vile fascists.

Let us remind ourselves that while Dr Christine Blasey Ford continues to be attacked on US television, Kavanaugh is still serving on the highest court in the world. By continuing to put a camera on men who have been accused of sexual assault, who are we helping? Where is it getting us?

And so he should. He has not been convicted of any crime. An unsubstantiated allegation is not proof of a crime. He is innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law. That’s it.

    • Being the resident lefty I have to disagree with you. I agree with LR in this post, probably more than most. This has nothing to do with left or right as the recent MJ docubollox has shown. The vast majority of people posting on my local Facebook gossip page are right wing/tories and they all have the same “it was on the telly so it must be true” gullibility and they have the same attitude to every single instance of accusation that is served up by the msm. Now I don’t want to be seen as defending the left and just attacking the right so I will admit that when the accusations are aimed at someone that the left generally don’t like…Tommy Robinson would be a good example…then they also tend to suspend their intellect and take the accusations at face value. Confirmation bias at its very best I guess and something which I try my hardest not to indulge in.

        Yes. That is the big problem; be it from MPs, msm, plod etc unquestioning public acceptance and acquiescence is too prevalent.

  6. Unfortunately like so much that appears in the Guardian these days, this article is nothing more than a piece of inflammatory click-bait. They didn’t even have the balls to allow comments on it (clue: the troll articles nearly always now have comments disabled in CIF to protect the delicate safe spaces of it’s half-brained social warriors)
