Where is Peel?

Why? Seriously, why?

Swallowing his lies hook, line and sinker, the Metropolitan Police described Beech as “credible and true”, and launched the disastrous £4 million Operation Midland investigation.

Following the verdicts, Mr Proctor, 72, who lost his home and his job as a result of the malicious allegations, blasted Scotland Yard for its litany of failings.

I can only echo Mr Proctor here:

He said: “When resources are in short supply, the Met Police should apologise to taxpayers for squandering millions of pounds – an estimated £4 million directly and indirectly – by their malice, incompetence and negligence on Operation Midland.”

He added: “In these precious last years of my life I know I can never regain what has been taken from me through Carl Beech’s mendacious activities and the consequent rogue malicious and apparently homophobic Metropolitan Police Service’s investigation.”

Carl Beech isn’t the only one who should be facing jail time here. The willingness of the police to uncritically believe any fantasist who walks though the door is an appalling statement on the level of moral panic that engulfs our system. This matter could have been resolved quickly and efficiently without dragging people through the mud. Had the police engaged in a little basic policing and proper investigation at the time.

  1. Not defending these buffoon senior detectives at all….but the idiot Home Secretary and soon to be ex-PM stated that “victims must be believed”. This is just an example of the police taking this mantra much much too far.

    • Quite so. Victims sometimes lie. I expect the police to examine the evidence in a calm, dispassionate manner, not to believe without any supporting evidence.

      • The frightening thing is that the people he was accusing were VIP’s, and they still didn’t do proper digging. I have to jump through hoops to get someone ordinary into custody, there are so many checks and balances now.

  2. I want compensation for all this probing I get every time I get abducted by aliens. I lose lots of time to and have to get home from ………….They’re here!

  3. I see one of the defectives went on to hold a senior position at the National Crime Agency, “Britain’s FBI,” or NCIS Mk3 as I prefer to think of them.
