These People Really Are Vile

Animal rights activists.

Angry animal rights activists left a blind man shaken after telling him he shouldn’t have a guide dog.

Jonathan Attenborough loves his Labrador Sam but revealed he was ordered to set him free.

The 30-year-old, from Newburgh, Fife, has been blind for five years and needs his faithful pup to get around.

Sam, who has been with his owner since April, has enabled him to lead a more fulfilling life since they were paired up.

He had two runs ins – with the second “raging” activist not accepting his need for assistance.

Where do you even begin with this kind of behaviour? Seriously, this is so misanthropic and antisocial it’s off the scale. I’ve watched as various activist groups have sought to outdo each other in the scumbag stakes, but I think we have finally reached rock bottom with this one.

I don’t have anything to add here. I’m sickened.

  1. Were there no bystanders who could have intervened? Although I suppose that knowing whose side the Police will be on if they become involved is perhaps a deterrent.

    • I’m tempted to echo our good host’s vow of silence here – very tough for people to intervene – as a White, heterosexual male the police have standing instructions that I must be arrested in the event of any altercation with any self – declared minority and preferably imprisoned (The basic guidance has been in place since the Macpherson report and with the growth of favoured minorities has been expanded)

Disabled people are obviously up there but it may be with the growth of Extinction Rebellion and the cult of Thunberg environmentalists have climbed above them on the totem pole of identity politics – tough call

  2. So very many self-declared ‘animal lovers’ aren’t. They are just people haters, and this is merely their excuse to express it.

  3. As someone who has debated with animal rights types over many years and on many different platforms, some Left leaning and some Right leaning, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not animals they love but people who they hate. They are the extreme of the extreme when it comes to misanthropy and some of them remind me very much of the Trans activists because of their desire to bully and intimidate those who disagree with them into submission.

  4. I may have said it before but there is no loathing quite like self loathing. You really do wonder what sort of inadequate, with what sort of inferiority complex has to sate their rage on a blind man and his guide dog.

And there are SO many of these raging losers.

As Oscar Wilde once said “you should always forgive your enemies because nothing annoys them more”. You can intervene, just do so politely and “respectfully”. Make the appearance of listening and ask them to explain. Nod and say “I’ll give that some thought, but could you please explain” – in this case how would a labrador “run free” and what would it do (and who would feed it).

The inner stupidity and hate would then boil over and it would likely be you who could call the police.

I’ve been doing this at work for years. You should always maintain a breezy Cheerful exterior. People think either 1. You’re getting away with something or 2. You’re mad or on the edge. You’d be surprised how many opt for 2.

  5. I had a couple of teenage girls trying to get me to sign some animal rights petition or other re animal experiments in a town centre some years ago. I looked to my 10 year old daughter who was with me at the time and pointed out to them that if a couple of doctors had not experimented upon dogs some years earlier that my daughter would have been dead at the age of 3, from type 1 diabetes. That shut them up.
I’m happy to say my daughter is now employed as a senior research nurse.

  6. “ Where do you even begin with this kind of behaviour?”

You begin by playing the bastards by their own rules. Namely you initiate a hate crime prosecution for discrimination against someone with a “protected characteristic” i.e. a disability.

  7. Not exactly on topic but you may be interested in the academic moves to ban the term Anglo-Saxon from eg Anglo Saxon studies. I don’t know what you think although I can guess. I suggest something like pineapple and razor wire.

  8. Labradors don’t want to run free. they are family dogs and want nothing more to be loved and live in a household.

Guide dogs are one of the greatest inventions ever.

  9. I wonder if they would be on our case for “keeping” cats? Of course, we do have a catflap so they could leave at any time. For some strange reason they prefer to stay and be exploited.

  10. I have never heard such an appalling tale!
I hope the dog and it’s handler were reunited and did not suffer too much.

I would like those who done it to be temporary blinded. They can see how difficult it is and how valuable the guide dogs are. One chap in the office where I use to work had a lovely golden retriever who enabled him to live and work as near to normal as possible. They are such gentle well behaved dogs who go through months of training. I notice they didn’t tell a police man to set his dog free!! Police dogs go through months of training to work for humankind as well!!!
