Oh, Dear, How Sad,

Never mind.

Equity apologised to Laurence Fox on Friday and agreed an out of court settlement for calling him a ‘disgrace’ following his Question Time interview back in January.

To which I would say, good. Their behaviour in response to his remarkably mild comments was disgraceful and a union should represent all of its members, regardless of their political views.

However…

But the UK actors union’s apology has sparked conflict within the organisation and the WHOLE of the Race Equality Committee have resigned.

To which I would say, will anyone notice? Should anyone care? A small group of anti free speech fascists have resigned from an insignificant role in an insignificant organisation. I didn’t notice the Earth move.

Then, following Equity’s post, he wrote: ‘Hopefully this might an opportunity for us to continue to celebrate diversity in all its forms. Including diversity of opinion.’

That, unfortunately, is the bit they don’t like. Fuck ’em.

  1. Has the Race Equality Committee ever advocated for a white actor to play Nelson Mandela?

  2. Sorry, might have forgotten or missed something here (admittedly, I didn’t watch the whole programme), but weren’t Fox’s comments aimed at hypocritical “celebs” who fly around the world whilst at the same time chanting the Green “save the world” mantra? What’s so anti-diversity about that? I assume that he was aiming the comments towards celebrities of ALL colours/creeds/religions/political persuasions etc. Or were there more comments that I didn’t see?

    • He was pointing out, accurately, that Megan Markle was not hounded out because of racism. Then a BBC plant accused him of privilege. He turned the tables on her and made the point, accurately again, that she was being a racist. Cue melt down.
