Mr Eustice said: “We want people to have a Christmas that is as close to normal as possible.
“There will undoubtedly be frustrations about the restrictions but people also understand we have to control the spread of the virus.”

No there won’t and I don’t actually think even a cockwomble like George Eustace really thinks so. People will do what they think is appropriate. For some that means “following government advice to protect granny”, but for the vast majority they won’t give a flying fuck about whatever the “rules” are. If they want to have a Christmas Party for 26 then they will do it and bugger George Eustace and his “restrictions”.
Bet you won’t see many COVID coppers in the backstreets of Bradford, Liverpool or Manchester come Christmas time. The cops know better.

As evidence that what you are doing in not harmful you could quote the report that some Scottish Government wallah has produced on sending old folk who have tested positive for covid in hospital back to their care homes. I paraphrase.
“There is no statistical evidence that sending sick people into care homes caused any subsequent deaths in the care homes. ”
