No, it is not.
The second national lockdown in England has been caused in part by a lack of public compliance, the justice secretary has said, adding that it will be a “huge challenge” to get the public to follow the strict rules this time.
Robert Buckland suggested the public had failed to adhere to the previous system, leading to the need for the four-week lockdown starting on Thursday in England.
“That’s one of the reasons we are having to take the measures we are today,” the cabinet minister told the BBC. “Sadly, it’s been difficult frankly regarding the compliance of some people with regard to the quarantine restrictions.
“I think it would be very ambitious of me to suggest that somehow we will be able to use the enforcement authorities to intervene in every case I think sadly that’s not possible.”
The conceit of these people. The arrogance, the hubris, the sheer sense of self-righteousness.
This has nothing to do with the way people behaved. Nothing whatsoever. The rules are absurd, contradictory and have no basis in science and do nothing to stop the spread of an airborne pathogen. That there wasn’t a spike in the early summer is evidence of this.
One thing we can be sure of is that I will never vote for the Conservative party again as long as I live (not that I have done so very much before).
As you have so eloquently pointed out in a previous post, all the mainstream parties seem to be ‘cheeks of the same arse’. Labour, Limp Dems, Greens, Tories. Policywise there’s no real choice between them.
Unfortunately, it’s all leftist too…You could argue that the tories are what new labour was.
Pretty close. That’s David Cameron’s legacy.
I’m fairly sure that it was no coincidence that Lockdown 2.0 started today, on 5th November. It handily means that there can be no unfavourable ‘optics’ around assemblages of people or protests near the Houses of Parliament on a day when many people might look at Guy Fawkes, Catesby et al in a new light: “Mmm, maybe blowing their sorry arses sky high isn’t such a bad idea…”
Looks like Nigel Farage’s reform uk party is the only alternative option
Or Laurence Fox’s Reclaim.
Oh yeah perhaps they should merge into 1 party
Agree. My first choice would be Reclaim but I don’;t think they’ll be ready for the locals next year. Reform has a much better chance of being ready. There needs to be some political movement to stand up to this madness.
It’s either that or abstain. I will no longer give any of the big three a vote for so long as I live.
Here in that part of UK even further North than The North we have the luxury of four pollie parties to not give our vote to.
Wee Nippie, aka, Wee Jimmy berates us each weekday with her policy of outdoing Bo. n Co. when it comes to keeping us down.
Oops, I forgot the Emeralds. All they want is for this general level of economic inactivity to continue for ever, so that the windmills will be enough to power us into a pre-industrial-like future post-industrial Nirvana.
And your homespun wicker velocipede will be enough to take you wherever you are allowed to go and you can buy as many nourishing turnips as you want, before your recyclable bawbees self recycle.
Baldrick paradise.
I couldn’t bring myself to vote for any of them at the last election and wrote words to that effect on the ballot. Over and over again I get to feel vindicated, not that this is any help regarding the constant screw ups.
I was hospitalised, so the decision was taken out of my hands. But, yes, none of the big three will ever get my vote again.
You can almost guarantee that by the beginning of December the hospitalisations and deaths “with covid” will have increased… Nothing to do with us “behaving ourselves” it’s simply that that’s what seasonal coronaviruses do. It happens every year, something apparently not noticed by the “experts” of the ludicrously-named SAGE committee.

It happens every year, something apparently not noticed by the “experts” of the ludicrously-named SAGE committee. This will be because the lockdown wasn’t hard enough and long enough and too many people didn’t obey the rules. Therefore, we’re continuing the lockdown but with more punishments and restrictions until March. There you go – fixed it for you.ah, striketrhough font didn’t seem to work – but you get the gist.
I’ve gone in and fixed it.
Here’s what happens if you’re qualified as a professional risk assessor…the police disagree and fine you…

Someone did make the pertinent comment that opening during lockdown may well invalidate his insurance.
