Ha Ha!

Plod has had to apologise.

Two women who were fined £200 each when they drove five miles for a walk have had the penalties withdrawn.

Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore were walking at Foremark Reservoir, Derbyshire, when they were “surrounded” by officers.

At the time Derbyshire Police insisted driving to exercise was “not in the spirit” of the most recent lockdown.

But new national guidance for police has led the force to quash the fines, and apologise to the women.

This was an obvious overreach to anyone with a grain of intelligence – but too much for Plod to grasp, it seems. It really is about time that these people were reminded who Robert Peel was and what his principles were.

I do hope that something similar happens with Dorset police who assaulted handcuffed the woman who was sitting on a bench and doing on one any harm whatsoever.

Chief Constable Rachel Swann said the fines “have been withdrawn and we have notified the women directly, apologising for any concern caused”.

FFS! They were not fines, because the police do not have the power to fine anyone. They are fixed penalty notices and if the recipient refuses to pay, then it has to go to court and a court would have handed Plod their arses on a plate and rightly so because no law had been broken.

“We recognise that errors will occur in the face of complex guidance and legislation and it is important such situations are resolved quickly and fairly, as has been the case here.”

Bollocks. The law is remarkably simple.

  1. The law is indeed remarkably simple for rational human beings of average intelligence, which, of course, rules out coppers.

    • This is true. They are still wibbling on about exemption certificates. No such thing exists and the law does not require it.

Plod: Why are you not wearing a mask?
      Me: I am exempt.

That’s it. End of discussion. There is no need for any further discussion nor proof, the law has been complied with. Or it should be.

  2. Can you imagine what Plod is going to be like should a curfew be introduced? Take their current vehemence and triple it.

  3. It would be nice to think that there would be consequences for those involved but I doubt that there will be. Until they need help and support from the public at some time in the future, then it might dawn on them how loathed and despised they are.

  4. Is Plod’s climb-down something to do with the fact that Bojo had gone more than five miles for his bike ride? Several of his political mates got a bit aggressive – Miss Priti in especial – about how Plod was to be egged on against us ordinary folk …
