What a Buffoon

Andrew Lloyd Webber repeats the mantra of the hard of thinking. The whole video is an embarrassing example of a complete lack of reason, logic or the scientific method. The man is an idiot on steroids.

If the vaccine works then those people who have been vaccinated are unaffected by those who are not – we are not spreading it around and killing people. This is sheer nonsense and is not remotely comparable with drinking and driving. If vaccination is not effective than everyone regardless of whether they have been vaccinated is a possible carrier. As it is, the manufacturers and government have been clear that the vaccines do not stop transmission or infection, they will merely mitigate symptoms, so Lloyd Webber is just as much a potential spreader as the next man, vaccinated or not. The whole facile argument falls apart with the application of logic. Those of us who are unvaccinated are no more a risk to other people than the vaccinated. We have merely accepted that there is a potential risk to ourselves and, upon weighing up the evidence, have decided to accept that risk. I’ll take no lectures from a half-witted luvvie on the matter.

The man may be able to pen a tune, but he clearly doesn’t do logic and he certainly doesn’t understand how science works, yet we are supposed to listen to this buffoon and take notice of the drivel he comes out with. Well, no, actually, I won’t. Nor will I be guilt tripped by his vacuous posturing and incoherent reasoning.

Oddly enough, the “my body, my choice” argument that has been so popular when it comes to killing unborn babies is now no longer applicable. How peculiar. One is almost inclined to believe that these people are steaming great hypocrites.

In the meantime, the texts, letters and phone calls have abated. Maybe they have given up.

Update: I see that the Mail covers this one and expands a bit.

It was a view echoed by Tory MPs Conor Burns and Marcus Fysh, who said people who refuse vaccines should not hold up the easing of restrictions.

Bournemouth West MP Conor Burns said: ‘As a nation we have tolerated with generally good humour the most profound curtailment of our freedoms in peacetime for the greater good.

‘It wouldn’t be right to do it again for those who have been offered a vaccine and have freely chosen not to take it – fully aware of the risks.’

Yes, we are fully aware of the risks and they are low. And, no, we do not want a delay to the lifting of the restrictions. I would suspect that most of the refuseniks, like me, didn’t want the restrictions in the first instance so trying to blame us for any potential delay is abhorrent as well as entirely wrong.

If people don’t want to be vaccinated it is not up to society to shield them.

You arrogant tosser. I never asked for society to shield me. I don’t want society to shield me. What I want is to be left alone to live my life as I see fit without interference from sanctimonious twats like you.

As it is, June 21st looks like not being the day we get our freedoms back. Never saw that one coming, did we? And, I suppose, they will be working overtime to get the pun jab out to cope with the new variant.

  1. Lloyd Webber ought to know better than spouting Fascist ideas. The mere fact that I have a pulse imposes externalities on everybody else. For example, I consume NHS resources that could otherwise treat him. Any reasonable definition of freedom has to include the right to refuse medical treatment without self regarding individuals getting judgemental.

  2. I allowed myself to be emotionally blackmailed into having the vaccine last week. In my defence, it was easier to have the vaccine than live with the constant nagging, bullying and hectoring of a woman who I do actually quite like, who is reasonably easy to live with and who the prospect of leaving, because of a disagreement over a “stupid vaccine”, was infinitely more unpleasant than having a prick – it seemed a compromise that I could rationalise. Also in my defence, I wish to partake of the entertainment industry and the leisure industry, and I have a fear that our, and other nation’s, governments will enact rules that prevent enjoyment of such things without a vaccine certificate (aka a small piece of paper……).

I do not believe the vaccine will protect me or anyone else in any significant fashion.

So far my side effects (Astra Zeneca) are:

    Flu-like symptoms
    Aches over my entire body
    Lethargy
    Fever
    Stomach cramps
The significant aggravation of existing chronic pain from sporting injuries received

These have been going on for 5 days now.

Needless to say I now deeply regret caving in. I am resisting the urge to blame her for my woes because ultimately it was my decision to seek an easy life and have the vaccine rather than stand on principles and maintain the stance it is a waste of time and money as well as being potentially harmful.

It would be more tolerable if there was the promise of re-opening the country, however I also now feel betrayed (again) by the government and their shifting stance on the Indian variant, reneging on re-opening the country and the prospect of further lockdowns at the whim of idiots with less understanding than I have (and I don’t claim much).

    • Had Mrs L still been alive, I suspect that she would have refused. Had she not done so, she would not have placed me under any pressure.

    • @Altoban

Sorry to hear you gave in to coercion

For others facing similar pressure I’d suggest a little white lie: GP says don’t have it due to polyethylene glycol allergy

  3. Mr. L-W was spouting on that not being vaccinated was akin to drink driving. What utter tosh. Once again anyone would think the virus, a mild Corona virus for most of those infected, had mutated into some Ebola variant by magic. This Indian variant has the mutation that makes it more infectious. It is killing people in India for the same reasons as it did in Europe. They are old, have bad health and many still live in abject poverty. All the nuclear warheads and a space program can’t help these people. Number are being quoted without conversion to numbers per 100,000 so are meaningless for comparative purposes.

  4. I have had two doses of Fizzer now and have had no noticeable effects. I will keep you posted and be totally honest about it if I do notice anything.

This thing needs to be a personal decision. I don’t see how delaying the easing of lockdowns and blaming the non vaccinated can be logically justified. If we cancel lockdowns and the non vaccinated started to die like flies, well it was their own decision wasn’t it? If it turns out to be the vaccinated that start dropping dead instead it would be interesting to see what the brainless talking heads have to say then.

  5. I’m still getting a text daily to remind me to make an appointment. Then today I had a phone call from some NHS vaccination service twat, so they’re not giving up…(I’m supposed to call them back as I refused to answer the “security” questions…)

  6. I had my first dose of the Astra jab last week, had similar symptoms to Altoban but thankfully only for one day.

Funny enough, the next day I came across a short story called Pallbearer by Robert Reed, which really struck a nerve. In this story a deadly virus emerged in China, in response to which the world rapidly develops and deploys a new vaccine.

The big twist is that the vaccine turns out to be slowly lethal, leading to mass death and civilizational collapse. The narrator was a young boy at the time and survived due to his religious mother’s refusal to get vaccinated. In the end, it is revealed that the virus and vaccine were deliberately engineered and release to ‘weed’ the human race to prevent environmental collapse.
