What Kind of World?

I sometimes ask myself this question as we lurch into the kind of dystopian nightmare found in the pages of a George Orwell novel.

Health experts are urging the Government to push ahead with plans to vaccinate all 12 to 15 year olds against Covid-19.

It comes despite the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) this week recommending against the plan.

The independent panel of experts, which is made up of professors and doctors who routinely advise the Government on vaccination strategies, cited the fact that the Covid-19 virus presents a very low risk to younger teenagers.

So, they claim repeatedly that they are following expert advice until that expert advice isn’t what they want to hear? It has been established that this disease is low risk to those who are young – children will see it off with a shrug. Yet here we are with so called top scientists telling the government to ignore the occupationally competent professionals.

But Professor Chris Whitty and the UK’s three other chief medical officers are now reviewing the wider benefits of vaccinating the age group, such as minimising school absences, and are expected to present their findings within days.

Professor Peter Openshaw, of the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag) which advises the Government, told BBC Breakfast he was ‘a little surprised’ at the JCVI’s decision to not back the rollout among children.

Perhaps because they, unlike the idiots in SAGE are looking at the evidence and the evidence is clear – there is no need to vaccinate children. There is something deeply repugnant about a state that vaccinates children in order to protect adults.

Also, let’s be clear here, this is an endemic illness much like seasonal flu. Therefore we deal with it in the same way. Offer a vaccine to those most at risk and let everyone else take their chances. As people get it and recover they will develop a degree of immunity.

But, but, but, headlines full of covid death porn. Yes, once again we have been seeing vaccine regret stories and once again, I’ll point out that these are very rare cases numbering in the tens against a population of nearly 70 million. The vast majority of people who have contracted this disease whether vaccinated or not, recovered and are carrying on with their lives. Some have suffered post viral syndrome just as some have suffered it with other viruses that didn’t make the news. The news and the desire to achieve zero covid is a distortion and it is one people are buying into. The government’s own figures do not support the black death narrative of Witless and company. We’ve had a couple of bad winter seasons. We may yet get a third before things fully settle down.

‘We do know the virus is circulating very widely amongst this age group, and that if we’re going to be able to get the rates down and also prevent further surges of infection perhaps later in the winter, then this is the group that needs to become immune,’ he said.

By their own admission, the vaccines do not provide immunity. At best, they mitigate symptoms and only for a brief period as they would not be banging on about booster shots already. These people have consistently over stated the threat from the outset. Yet despite being proven wrong, they continue to engage in scare tactics as they ramp down on our liberties. When, I wonder, will there be a kickback? When will people get it? Going by this, we could be a long way off…

Jean in Suffolk says people who refuse the Covid vaccine should be sent to prison. “Vaccinations should be compulsory for everyone. Some people have to be protected from themselves.”

Welcome to the world of a public with the combined intellect of a mollusc. By all means listen to this cretin, but don’t blame me for any damaged screens.

  1. So, we are going to stop the virus from spreading by widely using a vaccine that doesn’t stop it spreading? These people really are idiots aren’t they.

I should mention that octopi are actually quite intelligent.

  2. Scarface, Oz has gone full on fascist dictatorship. Perhaps they have been watching the Chinese a little too closely.
    This too: https://youtu.be/TEWhbkWWY0M

As the jabbed can still transmit the virus, allegedly to a lesser degree, why should one person who can possibly infect 6 people be denied treatment but another who can possibly infect three people retain all their rights?

  3. This is from the diabetes support forum:

“Has anyone started going to the gym since Covid started? If so, how has it been and what should I expect? I’m really worried about getting Covid.”

Diabetics are at higher risk but seriously this is what we are up against. The replies are mainly about all the wonderful precautions that the gyms have in place. I could go and mention that my gym has hand sanitiser but everyone ignores it and no one wears a mask. I’ve not heard of anyone getting ill but then I’m not sure how I would know if they had.

    • The diabetic support forum contains a fairly tight knit and friendly community and I tend to be reluctant to post stuff that will make enemies. Still, I came up with this reply:

“I think that you need to look at the numbers of people who have contracted this disease and the number of people who have died from it and put that into the context of a population of around seventy million people. The odds of you getting Covid let alone dying from it are far lower than you imagine, doing some basic research and arithmetic will bear this out. Cycling through Hull today I was almost taken out by a KCom van, we face similar risks every day. This thing isn’t going to go away any time soon. Are you going to spend the rest of your life cowering under your duvet or are you going to keep living?”

If this comment gets me flamed I will post some of the most mental comments for your entertainment.

  4. “Some people have to be protected from themselves.”

Heh. There’s irony for you. “Let’s destroy civil liberties. For the bad people. What could possibly go wrong?”

    • People need protecting from people like Jean of Suffolk, the kind of people who would have cheered on Hitler, the kind of people who think that it should be illegal to disagree with me.
