Oh, FFS!

Another silly story.

British Airways has instructed pilots and cabin crew not to refer to passengers as ‘ladies and gentlemen’ in an effort to celebrate ‘diversity and inclusion’.

Britain’s flagship carrier has abandoned the greeting in favour of more gender-neutral terms, reportedly to respect wider social norms and make children feel included.

Other major airlines, including Lufthansa, easyJet and Air Canada, have already adopted gender-neutral language.

I have no plans to fly again if I can avoid it. The security theatre is bad enough. The addition of Covid hysteria is another reason. Now, frankly, this cack. When did it become rational for the vast, reasonable majority to have to kowtow to a tiny bunch of screeching activists?

  1. The youth organisation (for youngsters from 13 to 18 years old) I have volunteered with for over 25 years has recently produced a suspiciously similar piece of “advice”. Over the lockdown we suddenly got an LGBT officer with associated team, one of whom is a Stonewall rep. They are fans of Obama and Biden, and hate Thatcher and Trump, an odd thing to say when discussing the “respectful” treatment of our youngsters and staff. One of these beggars called me a “dinosaur”, behind my back of course. As usual with these types, “respect” only runs one way. Unfortunately they have backing from the very top of the organisation. As they say, I am considering my position.

  2. “reportedly to respect wider social norms”

Aye, “reportedly”. But it isn’t, is it? These aren’t norms at all. “Ladies and Gentlemen” is the norm, coming from the order of precedence (“Your Royal Highness, My Lord Mayor … Your Graces, My Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen”) which dates back centuries.

Wide social norms are exactly what this baloney is intended to demolish, so they can be replaced with the petty obsessions of a tiny gang of nutters.

  3. How do these gender bending fuckwits think we all got here: storks, I suppose. And don’t get me going on “happy holidays”.

  4. And the aeroplane is not a “she” either.
    Nor ships.
    Centuries of convention binned.
What will Aussies do? Can’t say “Oh, she’ll be fine.” as they overload the ute, the tinnie, or the bridge.
