What’s good for the goose and all that.
Russia has accused Ukrainian helicopters of attacking an oil facility inside Russia after flying 25 miles undetected past the border, amid claims the Kremlin could stage a ‘false flag’ attack to justify a further escalation of the war.
Vyacheslav Gladkov said two of Ukraine’s military helicopters struck a fuel storage facility in the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday with S-8 rockets after crossing the border at low altitude in what would be the first air strike on Russian soil since WWII.
Er… And this is a problem because? I believe that there are Russian tanks inside Ukraine. The two countries are at war and all’s fair and all that. If you start a war by invading another country, you can’t really complain when they come into yours and start hitting your facilities, can you?
Sorry, LR, off topic, but I thought this groundbreaking product was just too good not to bring to your (and the other bikers on here) attention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rzaWDUKNMo
I might get one for my bike……….
April fool, right?
More details here

Their website says £999. Cheap at twice the price eh? I wonder if it replicates backfiring and rev limiters…..
I just remembered I bought a similar thing many years ago for a pushbike of one of the grandkids…..
We used to tape a playing card that rubbed against the wheel spokes.
Somewhere I have a short video from Japan about 10 years ago. It was a demonstration of a Toyota Pious with a simulated engine noise being played when the petrol engine wasn’t operating. This was to address a proposed law intended to warn pedestrians when virtually silent vehicles were approaching in built up areas. I don’t know if anything came of this, but the actual sound used was like something from “Buck Rogers in the 21st Century”. Presumably the Japs would be scared if it sounded like an AC Cobra…
Sorry to have derailed the thread LR, so in an attempt to get back on topic:
Is it just me or are we seeing years of ‘the Russkies military and defence systems are more than a match for the west’ mantra being disassembled in front of our very eyes?
p.s. we used lolly sticks
Well, it does have ‘it will all be over by Christmas‘ written all over it. To be fair, I thought that once they invaded, it would be a swift and decisive victory for the Russians. It would appear not, however.
Er I wouldn’t believe all you read about how well Ukraine is doing against Russia. In reality it’s f@cked and that’s from official Ukraine sources. One day, maybe soon, maybe not, the facts will be revealed about this military operation. So many people are going to have so many delusions about Ukraine exploded. Me? I’ve got the popcorn lined up for the knashing of teeth and rending of cloth extravaganza…?
@JhonnyRFV
Me too. Over at Alex Christoforou on youtube there is some intriguing stuff. In the Donbass, the Ukranian army – 60000 or so including the pilgrims of the Azov battalions – are surrounded and are being pounded to pieces.
Reports of less than successful helicopter evacuation. Loss of choppers and quite a few dead. Possibly NATO “advisors” among them and more trapped inside the ring.
Like everything else coming out of Ukraine, make of it what you will, but it would be very interesting.
It’s a war. War is messy. Given the superiority of force, the Russians haven’t exactly done too well so far. Regardless of what’s in the media, they are still fighting, so it wasn’t the quick in, regime change and out that Putin might have hoped for. Which is a good thing. Maybe next time he will think twice about invading another sovereign state?
@Mark
The two Mi-8 choppers were the second attempt of the AZOV commanders to flee Mariupol. The first attempt, a single Mi-8 had been shot down on its way there. This time the DPR forces let the choppers land, then shot them down as they were leaving with the commanders on board. One came down immediately with no survivors, the other got hit but carried on. It was found soon after, crashed with 3 survivors.
Meanwhile the DPR took control and found that the commanders had left behind personal details of AZOV servicemen.

Also all secret documents were left behind, maps, plans etc. They were so desperate to get away that they didn’t even have the decency to burn the data first and abandoned their own remaining men.
A humanitarian corridor for evacuation from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhya started operating from 10:00 on 31 March. An intermediate point for evacuation is in Berdyansk. A DPR official explained that Azov fighters who had not surrendered earlier were considered war criminals who had been killing civilians. They will not be let through. The officer explained that they were promised life, but not released.
War is messy, but I tend to give credence to the arguments and sources saying that Russia isn’t bogged down and is just taking time, trying to avoid civvy casualties.
Yes, there will be some. Sadly inevitable.
But the lights are still on and the internet is still working.
If they didn’t care about avoiding civvy casualties, those would have been gone one day one.
As always, anything coming out of there and about there, take with a pinch of salt
Including the pro Russian propaganda.
All propaganda, which is – almost by definition – everything we see. Given the assets the US in particular has, they will have a petty good idea as to what is going on, what forces are where and how they are actually doing.
The proven lie machine that is our “side” (brexit anyone?) is telling us that the Russian military is a joke that can’t even operate a few tens of miles beyond it’s own border over a flat plain!
That concerns me, that concerns me a lot.
@Chernyy
Our news sources constantly tell us that the Russians are bogged down, Ukraine is winning – a David and Goliath story of a plucky little country fighting for freedom against a far superior force – but its always worth remembering that the Russians went in with 200,000 troops, against a fully equipped Ukrainian force of 600,000.
That means the Russians had to fight in a more tactical way by using diversionary tactics among other things. What no one seems to realise is that the Russians have no interest in taking Kiev. Their offer of withdrawl from that area has been seen as a defeat. It isn’t, it was planned that way. Its given Russia an extra card to play in the negotiations. Its easy to give something away that you don’t want anyway. Russia makes a move toward Kiev, the Ukrainians move personnel from the East, where they mostly are, to intercept, and that leaves Russia’s main objective vulnerable – Mariupol. Classic. Kiev has served its purpose.
@JhonnyRFV, Mark
Yep, Gov’t, experts and msm are lying about Ukraine as they do with Covid and Global Warming. Anyone questioning their “truth” is a denier, killer, traitor…
When will the public wake up?
@LR
Putin never wanted all of Ukraine or regime change. He wants East and promise Ukraine will not join NATO. If Ukraine and West had agreed No NATO in 1991 through 2021 and Jan 2022 no war would be happening
@Ripper
Good info, thanks
