Twilio, a cloud communications company run by Jeff Lawson, provides messaging systems for businesses like Lyft, Netflix, and Airbnb, lost 18% of its value, and they were hacked. It’s hard times, so they will lay off employees. – white employees. They’re racists.
There is no other word for it. If it was any other race being laid off, then the headlines would be full of it, screaming ‘racist!’ at the top of their voices, but because it’s whitey, that’s all okay then. This from the email sent out by their CEO Jeff Lawson:
As you all know, we are committed to becoming an Anti-Racist/Anti-Oppression company. Layoffs like this can have a more pronounced impact on marginalized communities, so we were particularly focused on ensuring our layoffs – while a business necessity today – were carried out through an Anti-Racist/Anti-Oppression lens.
Yup. Racist. I don’t know how the law works in the USA, but in this country it would lead to legal action for racial discrimination and rightly so. Meanwhile, Jeff Lawson is a racist scumbag and hopefully he will be dragged through the courts because of it.
Fair enough. When things get better they will find out whether they threw out the bathwater or the baby.

Whatever my melanin count of I was useful employee I would be off, and if I was a shareholder I would be selling and buying short.

Not being racist is a really simple concept to grasp. Just treat everyone fairly without regard to what colour they are, it really is that easy. Trying to prove your non racist credentials by being blatantly racist but against people of an alternate colour is not only racist but just incredibly stupid. I’m pretty sure that in Europe and the US it is also illegal. Doonhamer is right, you wouldn’t want to work for this company or have any financial interest in it. I doubt that this affair will end well for them.
