‘Scary?’
Jeremy Hunt faces “scary” decisions on spending after undoing swathes of his predecessor’s tax cuts, analysts warn.
These people have no idea. They certainly don’t live int he real world. Government pisses billions up the wall on a regular basis. I’ll show ’em scary. Just let me at the government’s finances and it will come out the other side mean, lean and efficient. Most of the uncivil service will be signing on, though.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), an economics think tank, said deep spending cuts were inevitable.
Good. Excellent. Cut hard, cut deep and when you’ve done it, sharpen the blade to cut some more.
“There are no easy options here,” he added. “It is hard to see which of the big chunks of spending – health, pensions, welfare, education and defence – can be cut.”
Oh, it’s easy enough. Just stop doing stuff that is none of the government’s business, starting with media culture and sport.
Get out of higher education?
Too true. However despite different presentations the main parties are basically part of the ‘Establishement’ and significant cuts to spending would reduce the Establishment. So significant cuts are most unlikely.
Liz Truss’ minor tinkerings were so roundly criticised by… the Establishment. A lost opportunity.
Now Hunt is effectively in charge I’m pretty sure we’ll all be getting paid in Euros within the next couple of years…God forbid.
A small government is the best government.
A hanged one is even better. Pour encoureger les autres.
Let’s start with the 0.7% or whatever % of GDP in foreign aid.
Dear Mr Longrider
And in this day’s news, the prime minister is gone:

Only 45 days but she beat UKIP’s Diane James’ 18 days …
That doesn’t say much for the Conservative Party though.
I wonder who will be PM next week. And the week after.
Gosh, how exciting.
